Summary

When startup reconciliation removes a definition owned by the server's tag scope, cancel its nonterminal invocations and dynamic recurring schedules in the same storage operation. Retain their records with a cancellation reason, settle workflow dependencies and batch counts, fence active workers, and report counts through structured warnings. Terminal history and other tag scopes remain intact. Canceled dynamic schedules remain visible and cannot be resumed.

This follows merged #218 and precedes the assembly-defaults PR and #219. Adds nullable cancellation-reason columns to SQL storage and corresponding Redis fields; no compatibility or backfill is provided.

Tests

  • Shared conformance cases for all queue/graph providers, including scoped removal, idempotence, retained schedules, stale workers, dependencies, and batch counts: 1,101 passed.
  • Functional tests: 137 passed. Analyzer/generator tests: 103 passed.
  • Release sample build, EF pending-model verification, and fresh-database migration script passed.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Removing a job definition now cancels its unfinished jobs and eligible recurring schedules, while retaining their records and cancellation reasons for monitoring.
    • Cancellation reasons are available in job, batch-member, and recurring-schedule status details.
  • Behavior Changes
    • Canceled recurring schedules cannot be resumed or run again, and stale workers cannot complete canceled jobs.
    • Completed job history and definitions outside the affected scope remain unchanged.

Walkthrough

Definition removal now cancels nonterminal invocations and eligible dynamic recurring schedules across storage providers. Cancellation reasons are persisted and returned in status records. Canceled schedules remain visible but cannot be resumed. Storage conformance cases cover removal behavior.

Status queries expose cancellation reasons, and storage providers reject attempts to resume canceled schedules. Conformance cases check cancellation, history retention, stale completion rejection, and batch outcomes. The storage documentation describes the removal behavior.

Avoid scanning all retained jobs once per removed definition.

MergeJobDefinitionsListAsync runs at startup, but its atomic Lua script scans the complete jobs set for every removed definition and performs one HGET per job. Since cancelled jobs remain retained until purge, a large history or several removed definitions can materially delay other Redis commands. Scan once and group IDs by job name, or maintain a job-name index. Keep the reconciliation atomic.
