Fix donut hole placeholder breaking under HTML escaping with 2+ query params - #233
Conversation
… params Twig's default autoescape turns the placeholder's & into & when a hole's URI template carries two or more query parameters. DonutRenderer's str_replace never matched the escaped text, so the raw [le:...] placeholder leaked to the client on the first request, and ResourceDonut::refresh()'s regex-extracted URI carried a stray amp; into the second query parameter on the next request, throwing ParameterException for a required param. The placeholder now carries a percent-encoded URI (ResourceDonut::placeholder()), which has no HTML-significant characters left for any renderer's default escaping to touch. refresh() decodes it back before re-fetching; decoding a plain URI with no percent sequence is a no-op, so already-cached templates keep working. Closes bearsunday#232

- Reuse the existing DonutRepositoryTest::testDonutCacheWithAMultiParamEmbedRendersAndRefreshesBothQueryParams as the regression test for bearsunday#232 instead of a new, duplicate, @depends-chained test file: it already drives the fixture end-to-end (render GET, then an explicit invalidateTags()-forced refresh GET) in one self-contained method, so a mutation of either half of the fix (encode or decode) fails or errors it directly, with no @Depends skip-on-failure gap. - ResourceDonut::FORMAT is now private: nothing outside placeholder() builds a placeholder anymore, so there is no sanctioned reason to sprintf() it directly and silently reintroduce an un-encoded (bug-class) placeholder.

@koriym Update after a second look at review feedback: Test redesign (important): the new standalone test file used
Re-verified both halves against this single test method:
So the single existing method now fail-proves both halves independently, with no skip-gating gap.

… entries refresh()'s rawurldecode() of EVERY captured placeholder URI (introduced by the first bearsunday#232 fix) silently corrupted an older, un-encoded [le:URI] entry whenever its query value had itself needed percent-encoding (a literal '&', '=', '+', '/', or a non-ASCII character): the extra decode stripped that encoding before BEAR\Resource\Uri ever parsed it, either mis-splitting the value (parse_str re-reads the now-literal '&'/'=') or failing URL validation outright for a raw non-ASCII byte (BEAR\Resource\Exception\UriException). New placeholders now carry a '[le2:URI]' marker; refresh() only rawurldecode()s that form. A legacy '[le:URI]' placeholder is used exactly as it always was: correct for 0/1 query params, and still broken for 2+ exactly as it already was (that entry was already corrupted by bearsunday#232 and self-heals once it expires and is rewritten). Tests (ResourceDonutTest): a data-provider matrix refreshing a legacy placeholder whose query value needs a '+', '%2F', or non-ASCII encoding, asserting it round-trips unchanged; the same matrix for the new 'le2' form; a legacy duplicate-key (optional params) entry staying exactly as silently wrong as before; a legacy required-2-param entry still throwing the same ParameterException, not a new UriException. Each new test mutation-checked against a blanket-decode revert, a 'helpfully' unescape-amp;- for-legacy-too revert, and a legacy-regex-removed revert. CHANGELOG corrected: with the marker, an old-form entry keeps working exactly as before (no action needed, no longer merely 'no-op decode' handwaving); only an entry already corrupted by bearsunday#232 itself needs purging or expiry.

- URI_REGEX becomes a single pattern with one optional marker group
('/\[le(2)?:([^\]]+)]/') instead of two alternated patterns: both capture groups
now always exist, so refresh()'s decode branch no longer needs the isset()/??
workarounds PHPStan's offset-access checks forced on the alternated version.
- Added a 'reserved characters (&, =)' row to the legacy-placeholder test matrix:
a legacy single-param value containing '&'/'=' (http_build_query-encoded as
'%26'/'%3D') is the case that corrupts SILENTLY under a blanket rawurldecode()
(parse_str() re-splits the now-literal '&'/'=' into extra params) rather than
the non-ASCII row's loud UriException - a second, independent mutation killer
for the same class of bug, covering the 'quieter' failure mode directly instead
of only by inference from the non-ASCII case.
- The legacy-value assertions now compare against htmlspecialchars(, ...),
not the raw value: the hole's own {{ token }} is itself autoescaped by Twig, so
the new reserved-character row's '&' renders as '&' in the final view -
asserting the raw value would have failed for an unrelated reason.
- Verified 'same as before this PR' empirically, not just by reasoning: checked
out upstream/1.x's pre-fix src/, ran the legacy-placeholder tests - all pass
unchanged (only the new-form round-trip test errors with 'undefined method
placeholder()', expected, since that method is new) - then restored.
- Re-ran the full mutation set (blanket decode, amp;-unescape-for-legacy-too,
legacy-marker-made-required) against the simplified regex and the new test
row; all still catch their respective reverts.

Problem
A
#[DonutCache]page's#[Embed]hole whose URI template carries 2+ query parameters breaks donut rendering.DonutRendererregisters a placeholder containing a raw&. Twig's default{{ hole }}(no|raw) autoescapes it to&when the hole's__toString()output is interpolated, soDonutRenderer::render()'sstr_replacenever matches it: the raw[le:...]placeholder is served to the client. On the next request,
ResourceDonut::refresh()extracts the (still-escaped) URI viaURI_REGEXand calls$resource->get($uri).parse_str()splits on the stray literal&inside&, corrupting the second query parameter: a required param throwsBEAR\Resource\Exception\ParameterException(fatal); an optional one silently re-fetches with the wrong query.Fix
The placeholder now carries a percent-encoded URI (
ResourceDonut::placeholder()), used by bothDonutRequest::__toString()(embed) andDonutRenderer::setView()(match). Percent-encoding leaves no&,<,>,"or'for any renderer's default HTML escaping to alter, so the same placeholder text round-trips unchanged whether echoed raw, through Twig's default escaping, or by a non-HTML renderer.ResourceDonut::refresh()decodes the captured URI withrawurldecode()before re-fetching. Decoding a plain URI with no%sequence is a no-op, so already-cached donut templates from older versions keep refreshing correctly.Checked sibling spots for the same bug class (
DonutRenderer,ResourceDonut::create()/render()/refresh(),SurrogateKeys): the placeholder build/match/parse now funnels through one helper; surrogate-key tagging reads the live fetchedResourceObject, not placeholder text, so it was never affected.Evidence
