Tag a donut page with the embedded children its onGet() reads - #240
A cached donut page (#[DonutCache] / #[CacheableResponse]) now carries the tags of every #[Embed] child its own onGet() read (a "material"), so purging that child also drops the stored template instead of leaving it stale indefinitely. A hole the page only renders stays out of the template keys, so purging it still just recomposes the shell.
A #[DonutCache] page whose onGet() already reads an embedded child's
value (a material, as opposed to a pure hole the page never reads) now
tags the stored template with that child's URI and its own
Surrogate-Key, via CacheDependency::depends() before the template keys
are computed. CacheDependency::depends() no longer unsets the child's
own Surrogate-Key header after copying it to the parent, so a child
that is both a material and a hole keeps its own key for its own
independent cache entry. DonutRenderer now keys a hole's view by its
placeholder and renders with strtr(), so a second MISS of the same
page in one long-running container renders the fresh hole content
instead of replaying the first MISS's stale view.
Covers a #[Cacheable] child read as a material (ETag) and a
#[DonutCache] child read as a material (Surrogate-Key only, since a
donut response never carries an ETag), purging a material child
forcing a fresh miss with a depends_on edge logged, a child whose
Surrogate-Key is a $headers property default keeping its own key
after being misread as a material, CacheDependency::depends() leaving
the child's own key intact while deduping the parent, and
DonutRenderer overwriting a hole's view by placeholder across two full
MISS cycles of the same page in one container.
…che dependencies docs
doPutStatic() now runs the same passive material classification as
doPutDonut(): a #[CacheableResponse] page whose onGet() already reads
an embedded child's value tags both the stored template and the
response's own validator with the child's URI and Surrogate-Key, so
purging that child drops the template and the next GET is a fresh
miss with the child's current value. A pure hole the page never reads
is unaffected - it still just recomposes from the stored template.
CacheDependency::depends() dedupes a child's own URI tag against its
Surrogate-Key before logging the depends_on edge, so a #[DonutCache]
child with no declared key of its own (where the two happen to be
the same value) is not logged twice.
DonutRepository::__construct documents the append-only BC rule with a
PHPMD suppression instead of leaving the new 10th parameter as an
unexplained gate finding.
README gains a terse 'Cache dependencies' section: declare with
#[Embed], keep the slot, a cached onGet() never calls ->get(),
and a table of which mechanism (DonutCache hole, CacheableResponse
hole, material, or #[Cacheable] TTL) fits which need, plus writer-side
#[Purge]/#[Refresh] as the alternative.
DonutRepository's default CacheDependency ignored a manually-passed
custom UriTag/logger (it always built new CacheDependency(new
UriTag())): now built from $this->uriTag/$this->logger, so a
non-DI caller's own UriTag is honoured for material tagging too.
Added: a plain #[Cacheable] child with no Surrogate-Key (ETag only)
proves classifyMaterials()'s ETag branch, which every other fixture's
hand-set key left unexercised; a CacheDependency unit test proves
childTags has no duplicate when a child's own key equals its URI
tag, killing the array_unique-removal mutant.
A DI-bound DonutRepository always gets the container's own
CacheDependencyInterface binding, so the '?? new CacheDependency(...)'
default is never exercised there - only a manually constructed
repository reaches it. Builds one by hand with a custom UriTag, drives
it through the public putDonut() with a pre-run material child (the
same request #[Embed] itself builds via ResourceInterface::uri()), and
asserts the parent's Surrogate-Key carries the custom tag format.

Walkthrough
The changes register tagged embedded children as cache dependencies, preserve child cache keys, and replace earlier donut views when a placeholder is set again. The README and changelog describe dependency and purge behavior. Several source comments and docblocks are revised.
Changes: Cache dependency and donut rendering
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Preserve and merge child cache tags src/CacheDependency.php, tests/CacheDependencyTest.php, CHANGELOG.md
CacheDependency::depends() retains a child’s Surrogate-Key and merges deduplicated child tags into the parent and dependency event. Tests cover repeated dependencies and duplicate URI tags.
Track embedded material dependencies src/DonutRepository.php, tests/DonutMaterialDependencyTest.php, tests/Fake/fake-app/src/Resource/Page/Html/*, tests/Fake/fake-app/var/templates/Page/Html/*
DonutRepository registers dependencies for body children with an ETag or Surrogate-Key before building template keys. Tests cover purging material children, tag sources, cacheable responses, and custom URI tags.
Replace stale views on repeated misses src/DonutRenderer.php, tests/DonutRendererTest.php, tests/DonutMaterialDependencyTest.php
DonutRenderer stores views by placeholder. A later view for the same placeholder replaces the earlier one. Tests cover replacement and fresh hole content after a second full miss.
The README and changelog describe cache dependencies and child purge behavior. Source comments and docblocks across cache, HTTP cache, command, and interceptor code are revised or shortened.

Each mutation below fails the named test(s):
Remove classifyMaterials() from both paths → 7 failures in DonutMaterialDependencyTest (tags missing from save_donut, stale content after the child purge, the DonutCache child and the header-default child not classified).
Surrogate-Key-only signal (drop the ETag side) → testAPlainCacheableChildWithNoSurrogateKeyIsClassifiedThroughItsEtag.
ETag-only signal → the DonutCache-child and header-default tests.
Classify after templateKeys() → 4 failures (placement is pinned).
Restore the unset in depends() → CacheDependencyTest + testAChildTaggedThroughAHeaderDefaultKeepsItsOwnKeyAfterBeingMisreadAsAMaterial.
Drop the childTags dedup → testDependsOnChildTagsHaveNoDuplicateWhenTheChildsOwnKeyEqualsItsUriTag.
Revert the DonutRenderer fix → 4 failures, including testASecondFullMissOfTheSamePageRendersTheFreshHoleContent.
Constructor default back to new CacheDependency(new UriTag()) → testAManuallyConstructedRepositoryUsesItsOwnUriTagForTheDefaultCacheDependency.

Use precise PHP-FPM wording.
PHP-FPM workers can serve multiple requests sequentially. The current parenthetical can mislead readers about worker lifetime, but it does not affect the surrounding safety guidance. This is a low-value documentation correction.

@coderabbitai The nitpick on src/GlobalServerContext.php:12 is fixed in 2a5facb. The wording is now "(one request at a time per worker)". The earlier phrase came from this PR's comment cleanup; 1.17.0 described it correctly.

A cached donut page (
#[DonutCache]/#[CacheableResponse]) now carries the tags of every#[Embed]child its ownonGet()read (a "material"), so purging that child also drops the stored template instead of leaving it stale indefinitely. A hole the page only renders stays out of the template keys, so purging it still just recomposes the shell.DonutRepository::doPutDonut()/doPutStatic()classify body children before the template keys are computed. A child that already carries an ETag or a Surrogate-Key has run duringonGet(). The check only reads headers and never executes a child, so hole scoping (Do not store a response that is marked unstorable for this request #222/mark() refuses unrelated #[Cacheable] siblings later in the same request #234) is untouched.CacheDependency::depends()copies the child's Surrogate-Key into the parent and no longer unsets it on the child.DonutRendererkeys views by placeholder and renders withstrtr, so a second MISS in a long-running container shows the fresh hole.DonutRepositorygains an appended optionalCacheDependencyInterfaceparameter, built from the injected UriTag/logger by default.#[Embed], keep the slot, and pick a hole, a material or a TTL per use.src/comments are trimmed to their reasons, as separate comment-only commits.
