Unify the person route for the remaining review and edit operations.

  • gcb pr --as-user --number <n> --approve / --request-changes / --review-comment uses the broker's authorized person through the app broker; --as-user <login> writes a typed host review request checked against the broker allowlist; without --as-user it uses the app identity.
  • gcb pr --as-user [login] --number <n> --title/--body/--base ... edits a pull request. Bare --as-user uses the app broker user identity; a login writes a typed edit request for the host broker.
  • gcb issue edit <n> and gcb issue comment <n> are catalogued actions. The issue number is positional; bare --as-user uses the broker's user identity, a login resolves the repository/host from origin or --repo and writes a typed issue-edit / issue-comment request.
  • pr:edit, pr:review, issue:edit and issue:comment declare appUser: true where the app-broker user route applies.
  • The host broker gains typed edit, issue-edit and issue-comment operations; review, reply and all edit routes share one allowlist/run/catch helper (personRun). All bodies go through a private --body-file, so text beginning with -- stays data and does not appear in /proc/<pid>/cmdline.

Help handling is shared: a separated -h after --title/--body-file means help, --title=-h stays data, and --body --help remains body data. Missing operands for --body, --title and --body-file are refused instead of being treated as absent.

README/AGENTS/ROADMAP and a changeset are updated. corepack yarn check: 503 pass.

Walkthrough

The PR adds brokered pull-request reviews and edits, plus issue edits and comments. Client routes select app, authorized-person, or login-based host-broker execution. The host broker validates requests and repository allowlists, then runs the corresponding gh commands.

Changes: Broker-mediated reviews and edits

Layer / File(s) Summary
Request, action, and argument contracts
packages/core/src/host-request.ts, packages/core/src/actions.ts, packages/core/src/support.ts, test/unit/host-request.test.ts, test/unit/actions.test.ts, test/unit/broker.test.ts, test/unit/commands.test.ts
Adds typed request shapes and validation for reviews, pull-request edits, and issue edits and comments. Adds issue edit and comment actions, enables user identity for pull-request edits and reviews, and tracks missing flag operands while handling flag-like option values.
Client review and edit routes
packages/client/src/commands/pr.ts, packages/client/src/commands/issue.ts, packages/client/src/commands/host-submit.ts, packages/client/src/commands/repo.ts, test/unit/pr-identity.test.ts, test/unit/issue-command.test.ts, packages/client/src/commands/gh.ts
Adds pull-request review flags and issue edit and comment routing. Login-based routes submit typed requests through the host broker; other review routes run gh pr review with the selected identity. Socket errors are checked after argument validation.
Host-broker operation execution
packages/host/src/commands/host.ts, packages/host/src/gh.ts, test/unit/host.test.ts, test/unit/gh.test.ts
The host handles reviews, pull-request edits, and issue edits and comments. It checks the host and repository allowlist, runs the corresponding gh command, and returns results. Bodies are passed through temporary files.
Documentation and release updates
README.md, AGENTS.md, ROADMAP.md, .changeset/host-review.md
Updates documented broker operations, identity routes, and allowlist behavior. Marks the roadmap work complete and declares minor releases for three packages.

Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 6b2f1

No actionable merge-blocking risk remains in the reviewed change.

Security architecture risk: Low · up to 6b2f1

The change deliberately gives connected clients additional authority to act as configured people, including submitting approvals. The inspected routes retain repository restrictions, identity checks, and constrained command execution. No authorization bypass was established, but interruption recovery and deployment-specific permissions remain limitations.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — A client able to submit authorized requests gains additional review, edit, and comment authority on allowlisted repositories accessible to the selected person. Person routes need not be bounded by app installation membership. An approval attributed to that person can now originate from the client, so its attribution alone does not demonstrate manual human review.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The socket broker checks repository authorization, rebuilds and validates catalog arguments, and accepts user identity only for actions declaring appUser. The provider then chooses the authorized person token or a repository-scoped installation token; the client does not directly supply the execution credential.
  • observed — The new host mutation branches use fixed subcommands and target fields, encode title and base operands as --key=value, and pass free-form bodies through temporary files rather than process arguments. The shared body helper removes its directory in finally; this does not guarantee cleanup after an unconditional process kill.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — If stronger completion guarantees are needed, add explicit reconciliation for abandoned claimed requests and correlate them with GitHub outcomes before permitting replay. Automatic replay alone would risk duplicating non-idempotent reviews or comments.

Explanation

The PR adds the #68 issue catalog actions (issue:edit, issue:comment) and the supporting client, broker, validation, body-file, test, and documentation changes. The PR description states that these changes implement person-routed reviews and edits. Those changes include pr:review and pr:edit routing, typed host-broker requests, private body-file handling, and shared help and argument validation. The linked issue asks only for the issue actions. The review and PR-edit routing is broader than #68, but the PR description states it as the PR intent. No change is shown to lack a concrete connection to that intent. The incremental changes since the previous reviewed head are summarized but were not each inspected line by line.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

[#68] Catalog entries exist at head in packages/core/src/actions.ts. ISSUE_EDIT maps to issue edit with a required positional number, optional title and body, atLeastOneOf title/body, permissions { issues: 'write' }, hostUser true, and appUser true. ISSUE_COMMENT maps to issue comment with a required positional number, a required non-empty body, permissions { issues: 'write' }, hostUser true, and appUser true. Both entries are registered in GH_ACTIONS and GH_ACTION_NAMES. test/unit/actions.test.ts checks both names in the GH_ACTION_NAMES list. It checks rebuilt argv for both actions in 'builds issue edit and comment argv'. The permission test 'keeps creation token permissions narrow' asserts only pr:create and issue:create. No assertion in actions.test.ts checks the permissions of issue:edit or issue:comment. The issue requires permission tests for the new entries. This gap matches the previous review and remains unresolved at the current head.

Resolution

In test/unit/actions.test.ts, inside the 'keeps creation token permissions narrow' test (or an equivalent test), add assertions that getGhAction('issue:edit').permissions and getGhAction('issue:comment').permissions each deep-equal { issues: 'write' }.

Nitpick Capture the review body while the stub command runs.

Capture the review body while the stub command runs.

Reviewed at fed719c. corepack yarn check is green (471), and I drove both paths by hand: the app path (gcb pr --number 7 --approve → op: action, ghAction: pr:review, values: {number, approve}, identity: app), the host path end to end against a real gcb host --once with a fake gh, and the refusals.

The host side is right. Probed with a fake gh: approve with no body sends exactly pr review 7 --repo acme/widget --approve (no --body-file); a comment carries --body-file from a 0700 mkdtemp that is removed afterwards; a repo outside the allowlist is refused before the program runs. The check order, requestProblems, the claimRequest shape branch and the kinds advertisement are all correct, and the submitToHostBroker rename is complete.

Needs fixing

1. A missing --number names an internal action in the error

$ gcb pr --approve
error: --number is required to host-review a pull request

actionOf (line 105) returns 'host-review' and line 255 interpolates the action straight into the sentence. Two things in one: the message, and the name — it is not a host action unless --as-user <login> is given; it carries the app path too. Rename it (e.g. submit-review) and give it a verb the way status already gets inspect, so the sentence reads "…to review a pull request".

2. The new flags' help text is wrong about which identity runs them

  --approve Submit an approving review as the person (bare or login --as-user)
  --request-changes Request changes; needs the person and --body/--body-file
  --review-comment Leave a review comment; needs the person and --body/--body-file

"needs the person" is not true: gcb pr --number 7 --approve and gcb pr --number 7 --review-comment --body hi both work and reach the broker as identity: app (watched the request). Three flags, three different accounts of the same choice. Say it once: what you get with no --as-user, with bare --as-user, and with a login.

3. The review's allowlist guard has no teeth

Deleting the allowed(host, request.repo) block from the review branch of host.ts (line 408ff) leaves test/unit/host.test.ts 18/18 green. fork and reply each have "outside the allowlist … refuses before running gh"; the review route — the one AGENTS says the allowlist matters more for, because a person's token reaches everything that person reaches — has none. Add the sibling test (marker file, assert.match(error, /not in the allowlist/), program never ran); it fails on that mutation.

4. The client-side review guards are untested too (full unit suite, 463 pass)

  • turning if (event === 'approve') ghArgs.push('--approve') into --comment leaves everything green: the flag→gh-event mapping is only checked on the host side, never for the app path;
  • deleting the --review-comment/--request-changes needs-a-body refusal leaves everything green.

The --approve case added at pr-identity.test.ts:233 asserts only identity: 'user'. Asserting seen.ghAction === 'pr:review' and values.approve === true there gives the first teeth, and one CLI case gives the second.

5. PR_EDIT gains appUser: true for nothing

Nothing sends identity: 'user' for pr:edit: gcb gh refuses --as-user, and gcb pr --as-user --edit takes the pull-request op, which never consults appUser. Removing the line keeps the whole suite green. PR_REVIEW's is used and tested; this one is unrelated to the PR and unreachable — drop it, or say what it is for.

6. The lists this project keeps current were not updated

The PR added reviews to the examples and to the host-broker sentence, but:

  • README.md:138 — "--as-user without a value uses the broker's authorized user token for open, reply, resolve, edit and comment": review is missing, and the next line still says the login form is "for creation";
  • AGENTS.md:260-262 — "bare --as-user … also handles reply, resolve, edit and comment": same gap, and it now contradicts the sentence before it, which says the broker submits reviews;
  • README.md:506-508 and AGENTS.md:241-243 — the lists of what the user token is for (authoring a pull request, resolving a review thread, replying to or editing a review comment) now also include submitting a review;
  • README.md:385/387 — "Opening a pull request or issue as yourself" no longer covers what the section shows, since the review examples were added under it;
  • host.ts:1-12 — still "create, reply and fork" and "a pull request, issue, reply or fork"; CREATE_TIMEOUT_MS is still documented as "one pr create or issue create".

Small ones, worth taking while you are here

  • A review silently ignores --draft, --head, --base and --title (gcb pr --number 7 --approve --draft --title x submits the review). The --id path refuses its extras, and this file's own comment says a typo must not fall through silently — add them to the conflict list at line 332.
  • --comment together with a review is refused twice: the early check, and 'comment' in that same conflict list, which can never fire. Keep one.
  • host-submit.ts: noun and needed are two parallel five-deep ternary chains over the same kinds; one map ({review: ['review', 'review'], …}, default ['pull request', undefined]) says it once. The file's JSDoc still says "opener" — the rename commit renamed the function but not the prose — and its no-broker message, "or drop --as-user to open it as the app instead", says "open" for a reply and a review.
  • host.ts usage: the sentence now runs past the wrap (…submit a review, with the gh account each request names. The).

I will re-read once these are in.

Re-reviewed at 600888e. corepack yarn check is green (480). The last round is in and verified: submit-review plus the "to review a pull request" verb, truthful help text, the review allowlist denial test, the approve/values assertion, the review body refusal test, PR_EDIT.appUser now genuinely used by bare --as-user edit (with a broker test), --draft/--head/--base/--title refused with a review, the duplicated --comment check gone, and the docs updated.

But d16b7ff grew the PR by three host routes (edit, issue-edit, issue-comment) and two catalog actions, and the same class of gap came with them.

Needs fixing

1. Two of the three new allowlist guards have no teeth.
Deleting allowed(...) from the issue-edit/issue-comment branch and from the edit branch leaves the whole unit suite green (469 pass). Only the review one got the denial test I asked for last round; the next three copies did not. There are now five copies of that guard and five copies of the run/catch around it in host.ts; per-copy tests are the wrong shape for a check that is identical five times. Factor it — e.g. a small personRun(host, repo, argv) with the allowlist check and the catch inside — and one denial test covers all five.

2. gcb issue edit documents a flag that does not work, and accepts one that is ignored.

$ gcb issue edit --number 7 --title fixed --as-user alice --repo acme/widget
error: gcb issue edit needs the issue number

ISSUE_USAGE says --number <n> The issue to edit or comment on (edit/comment), but the number is a positional (args.positionals[1], matching issue:edit's catalog positional). So the documented spelling fails, while --number was added to KNOWN_FLAGS and is therefore accepted and dropped — gcb issue edit 7 --number 9 … edits 7. Drop number from KNOWN_FLAGS (it leaks into the create path too: gcb issue create --number 9 is now silently accepted) and document the positional in the usage.

3. ISSUE_USAGE still says the login route is create-only.
"for create, --as-user <login> writes a request for the host broker" — the point of this commit is that edit and comment do too.

4. The new non-create path re-implements a subset of the create path's flag checks, and drifts.

$ gcb issue edit 7 --title t --as-user alice --repo acme/widget --proxy
error: no host broker is watching … # --proxy with no value, silently dropped
$ gcb issue edit 7 --title t --as-user alice --repo acme/widget --proxy http://p --no-proxy
error: no host broker is watching … # both accepted, --no-proxy silently wins
$ gcb issue create --title t --body b --as-user alice --repo acme/widget --proxy
error: --proxy needs a value # the create path refuses both

--host is the same story: the login route refuses it (KNOWN_FLAGS) while the bare route forwards it to the catalog. Two branches of one command should share their flag validation rather than each holding a subset.

5. gcb issue edit/comment --as-user <login> requires --repo, while the bare route and gcb pr … --as-user <login> resolve it from origin.
On a checkout whose origin is the repository, gcb issue edit 7 --title fixed --as-user works and … --as-user alice fails with "needs --repo for issue edit or comment". Either resolve from the checkout the way pr does, or say why the login route is stricter.

6. The docs contradict themselves, and the boundary change is unrecorded.

  • README.md:427: "…edits pull requests, and forks with the gh account named by the request; it does not edit, close or merge" — one sentence listing and denying editing. It also omits the new issue edit/comment routes.
  • README.md:139: "--as-user <login> uses the host broker for creation, review and reply" — edit is missing.
  • AGENTS.md:265: "but the pull request itself cannot be edited, closed or merged" — false as of this commit: bare --as-user --number N --title … edits it through pr:edit, and --as-user <login> --number N --title … edits it through the host broker.
  • AGENTS.md:213-216: "The flag-only gcb pr --as-user form is for reply, edit, comment and resolve" (review missing), and the issue sentence still says issue create only.
  • The README's issue examples (456-458) show only create; issue edit and issue comment appear nowhere user-facing.
  • The host broker's power set is documented in several places as "it does not edit". This PR reverses that; the roadmap tick now lists the routes but the reason is nowhere. If "does not edit" was a boundary rather than a gap, it wants a line under .agents/notes/; if it was a gap, say so where the sentence is.

7. The two fixes in 4984306 and 600888e are untested.
--body=${body} is right — a body beginning with -- otherwise arrives as the next flag, and gcb pr --number 7 --review-comment --body=--approve reaches the broker with body: "--approve" — but nothing pins it; one case asserting values.body === '--approve' fails on the old spelling. Same for moving mkdtemp inside the try: nothing exercises a temp-dir failure.

Nits

  • issue:edit and issue:comment got their endpoint comments and a names-list entry, but no argv test, unlike pr:edit's "builds the edit flags" — AGENTS asks for a test with each new action.
  • submitToHostBroker's KINDS is rebuilt per call and typed Record<string, …>, so a new kind silently falls back to { noun: 'request' } with no capability check. Type it by the kind union (and hoist it) so adding a kind is a compile error.
  • requestProblems accepts an edit/issue-edit with nothing to change; the client refuses that but the file contract does not, so a crafted request costs a gh pr edit N with no flags.
  • The PR title and body still describe only reviews; the changeset and the roadmap have moved on.

Re-reviewed at 915f56a. corepack yarn check green (486). Everything from the last round is in and holds up:

  • the three denial tests have teeth — deleting the allowed(...) block from the edit and issue-edit/issue-comment branches now fails exactly those three (23 pass, 3 fail);
  • gcb issue edit --number 7 … is refused, the positional is documented, and issue create --number 9 is refused again;
  • --proxy/--no-proxy/--host are validated once for every issue path (the create-path drift is gone, with a test);
  • --repo is resolved from origin (I drove it: github.com, ghe.example, and the --host mismatch refusal all produce the right request);
  • --as-user=alice still parses on the new paths;
  • requestProblems now refuses an edit/issue-edit with nothing to change, claimRequest checks host for the issue kinds, KINDS is typed by the kind union, and the catalog has its argv test;
  • docs (README:139, README:427, AGENTS:213-216, AGENTS:265, the permissions table, the issue examples) are consistent again, and the title/body now describe the whole change.

Three small things left, then this is done.

1. Four new guards in host-request.ts are silently removable. Deleting all four leaves the whole unit suite green (475 pass):

  • an issue edit needs a title or body;
  • an edit needs a title, body or base;
  • the two host shape checks added to claimRequest for issue-edit and issue-comment.

Each wants its failing case: two writeRequest refusals and two requests with a non-string host that claimRequest drops (the reply/fork branches have the shape precedent).

2. The origin resolution in issue.ts has no test. The bare route, --repo, and pr are covered; the new "no --repo, take it from origin, keep its host" branch is not. One case is enough — a checkout whose origin is on another host, asserting the written request's repo and host.

3. AGENTS.md:262-263 still lists only "submits reviews, replies to review comments and edits pull requests" for the host broker; issue edit and issue comment belong in that sentence now that the README and the roadmap list them.

Everything else I probed behaves as documented. I will approve as soon as these land.

@i1stG All three are in at 2051299: (1) tests now pin the two empty-edit refusals and the two claimRequest non-string host drops; (2) the origin-resolution case uses a ghe.example origin and asserts the written repo/host; (3) AGENTS now lists issue edit/comment in the host-broker sentence. Full suite: 489 pass.

Approved at 789902e. corepack yarn check green (489), and every point from the three rounds is now closed with a failing case behind it:

  • the four host-request.ts guards — deleting both requestProblems rules and both claimRequest host checks now fails the two new cases (20 pass, 2 fail);
  • the origin resolution — removing host = host ?? found.host fails the new issue edit case, and I re-drove it by hand: github.com, ghe.example with no flags, --host ghe.example matching, and the mismatch refusal all write the expected request;
  • AGENTS.md:262-263 and the README allowlist paragraph now name issue edit/comment and pull request edit.

I also re-ran the documented examples end to end against a fake broker — issue edit/comment --as-user land on issue:edit/issue:comment with identity: user, pr --as-user --number … --title on pr:edit with identity: user, and pr --review-comment without --as-user on pr:review with identity: app.

Nothing blocking. Two optional leftovers for a later day, neither worth another round:

  • host.ts still holds five copies of the allowlist guard and its run/catch; each now has its own denial test, so the copies are pinned, but a personRun(host, repo, argv) helper would make the sixth one free.
  • the --host mismatch refusal inside the new origin branch (the checkout's remote is on X, but --host is Y) is the one sub-branch without a test; it mirrors the same check in pr, which is likewise untested there.

@i1stG Both optional leftovers are done at c3e4958: the five person branches now share personRun(host, repo, allowed, work) for the allowlist and failure handling, and the issue edit/comment --host mismatch has a test (ghe.example origin vs --host github.com, no request written). Full suite: 490 pass.

Re-reviewed c3e4958. corepack yarn check green (490), and the refactor is sound: deleting the single allowed(...) check in personRun now fails five tests — review, reply, edit, issue-edit and issue-comment — so the extraction kept (and improved) the teeth, the review's temp-dir finally still cleans up inside work, and the new --host/origin mismatch test has teeth of its own (removing the check fails it).

One thing, and it is the only one:

The openOne docblock is now stacked on personRun.
host.ts:320-333:

/**
 * Create one pull request, issue, review, reply or fork.
 *
 * @param repo - the checkout to create it in.
 * …
 */
/**
 * Run one person operation: check the allowlist, then call the program …
 */
async function personRun(

Two blocks before one function, and openOne — which still takes repo, command, extra, request, allowed — has none. Anyone reading personRun is told it takes a checkout and creates a pull request. Move the first block back down to openOne (and update it: it also edits and comments on issues now).

That's it — I will approve as soon as it is moved.

@i1stG Both are fixed: the openOne docblock is back on openOne (updated for edit/comment) at 1f909b0, and 3d3a13e makes AGENTS agree that the flag-only gcb pr --as-user form also opens. Full suite: 490 pass.

Approved at 3d3a13e. The block is back on openOne with its contract updated, personRun keeps its own, corepack yarn check is green (490), and the AGENTS.md correction — that the flag-only --as-user form does open with --head/--title — is right; "not for opening" was stale since the host-broker create route landed.

For the record, the verification behind the approval:

  • the five person routes go through one personRun; deleting its allowed(...) check fails five tests;
  • requestProblems and claimRequest refusals (edit/issue-edit/issue-comment shape, host) each have a failing case;
  • the origin resolution in gcb issue edit/comment is covered, including the --host/origin mismatch refusal;
  • review bodies survive a leading -- (--body=--approve), and a temp directory that cannot be made is answered with an error result instead of a stranded claim;
  • the documented examples drive the right action and identity: issue:edit/issue:comment and pr:edit as the broker's person, pr:review as the app without --as-user.

Fixed in 6c95eba: issue comment resolves --body-file and rejects an empty/whitespace body before account routing, so app, bare --as-user and login all fail client-side. A bare --as-user case pins it. 502 pass.

Approved at 6c95eba. corepack yarn check green (502).

  • fc56d41 pins the ordering properly. Dropping --socket fixed the reason my check passed against the old code: that file now fails against 5e9722c's gh.ts with no broker socket is configured, and passes here. Clearing GIT_BROKER_SOCKET_FILE as well as GIT_BROKER_SOCKET is the part I had missed — resolveSocketPath reads both (helper.ts:191), so without it the test would still have leaned on the machine.
  • 6c95eba gives comments one rule on every route. The empty-body refusal now runs before the account branch, so the app and bare---as-user paths get it too, and deleting the block fails the new case. I re-checked the neighbouring paths: the login route still reports an unreadable --body-file with the same message, and --title on a comment is still refused.

One cleanup, not blocking: the account branch still carries its own copy of that check (issue.ts:163-164), which the new pre-check has made unreachable — same source, same message. Removing it leaves one rule and one place, which is what the commit was after.

Nothing else.

Fixed at the owner in 407f051: catalog FlagSpec gains nonEmpty, issue:comment/pr:comment set it, buildGhArgv enforces it, and runGh validates the catalog client-side before socket/allowlist. The issue.ts comment-body special case is deleted; host login still gets the same rule from writeRequest/requestProblems. 503 pass.

Reviewed 407f051. The non-empty rule now lives in the catalog (FlagSpec.nonEmpty), and both sides read it: buildGhArgv enforces it before substituting --body-file, and runGh calls buildGhArgv before resolving the socket. The duplicated comment check in issue.ts is gone, which is the cleanup the previous review asked for.

Verified by execution:

  • corepack yarn check — 503 tests pass (with the machine's proxy variables unset, as the host proxy guard requires here)
  • gcb gh issue comment 7 --repo acme/widget --body ' ' → issue:comment needs a non-empty --body
  • gcb gh pr comment 7 --repo acme/widget --body '' → pr:comment needs a non-empty --body
  • gcb issue comment 7 --repo acme/widget --body ' ' → the catalog message, before socket resolution
  • gcb issue comment 7 --repo acme/widget --body-file <whitespace file> → the same catalog message

No remaining findings.

Reviewed 95d8984. Calling requestProblems at the top of submitToHostBroker is the right place: it validates every host-request kind before findGitDir, the opener lookup or any file is written, and the host side still rechecks through writeRequest.

Verified:

  • gcb issue comment 7 --body ' ' --as-user alice --repo acme/widget in a checkout with no opener now fails with a comment needs a body, not "no host broker is watching"
  • corepack yarn check — 503 tests pass (proxy variables unset for the host proxy guard)

One non-blocking gap: no unit test drives this new pre-channel validation (the existing empty-comment test uses bare --as-user, which goes through runGh). The manual case above would make a small regression test.

Added in d856688: the login empty-comment case now runs with no opener and asserts a comment needs a body plus no request file, pinning requestProblems before the channel. 503 pass.

Approved at d856688. corepack yarn check green (503).

All three hold up, and each is pinned by its own failing case:

  • nonEmpty in the catalog — the empty-body rule now lives where the action does, so both comment actions enforce it on every route; deleting the two nonEmpty checks in buildGhArgv fails "rejects an empty comment body in the catalog". It covers the --body-file substitution too, which is the branch that would otherwise have skipped it.
  • submitToHostBroker validates before the channel — a request that cannot be written now reports why, instead of "no host broker is watching"; removing the pre-check fails the new emptyLogin case, which also asserts no request file is left behind.
  • runGh validates through buildGhArgv locally — same catalog, same rules, so there is no second source; removing it fails the bare---as-user case. This is what makes the client's issue comment 7 --body ' ' fail with issue:comment needs a non-empty --body instead of a socket or broker error.

Drove the matrix by hand: host route → a comment needs a body; bare --as-user and gcb gh → issue:comment needs a non-empty --body; --body-file with a whitespace file → a comment needs a body; pr:comment → pr:comment needs a non-empty --body. None of them need a broker to answer now, which is the point.

Two notes, neither blocking:

  • submitToHostBroker's try { writeRequest(…) } catch is now unreachable — the same requestProblems check runs a few lines above it — so the comment above it ("writeRequest refuses what the host broker would refuse … It throws") describes a case that cannot happen. Keeping the catch is defensible as defence; the comment should say so or go.
  • the same mistake has two wordings depending on route: a comment needs a body (host request) and issue:comment needs a non-empty --body (catalog). Fine as layering, worth knowing it is deliberate.

Nothing else.

Took the first note in 6b2f12b: the writeRequest catch stays as defence, and the comment now says requestProblems already ran and the catch is only for validator divergence. The two wordings are deliberate layering (host request vs catalog).

Approved at 6b2f12b. Comment-only change; corepack yarn check green (503). The note now says why the catch stays, which is the right call. Nothing outstanding.
