Prepare 1.18.0: drop the unreleased mark guard, keep the runtime-private guard - #242
1.17.0 signatures restored: ResourceDonut::refresh() and the DonutRepository constructor order. Every other constructor only appends optional parameters; interfaces are back to the 1.17.0 set (22).
No per-user enforcement: writing a cache attribute declares the response shared. The README states that QR reads only the response's own header and that per-user values (including those received through #[ResourceParam]) belong in a non-cacheable #[DonutCache] hole.
…ctor shapes, keep the runtime-private Cache-Control guard and every other 1.x fix
Deletes UncacheableMark(Interface), UnstorableGate(Interface), ThrowingUnstorableGate,
DevUnstorableGateModule and Exception\UnstorableResponseDetected along with every mark/
isMarked/enterHole/leaveHole path. DonutRepository drops DonutHeaderSetter and restores
HeaderSetter + CdnCacheControlHeaderSetterInterface at their 1.17.0 constructor positions;
QueryRepository, DonutRequest and ResourceDonut::refresh() restore their 1.17.0 signatures.
DeclaredCacheControl gains reason(), ported from UnstorableGate minus the mark check: a
response whose own code sets Cache-Control to private/no-store at runtime is still refused
the server-side store, keeping the developer's header and stripping CDN headers; a value
#[HttpCache]/#[NoHttpCache] declares is exempt. Removes the Header::PRAGMA constant, only
ever used by the removed mark-based header override.
Test/fixture cleanup: deletes every fixture and test whose only purpose was the mark
system's cross-request/hole-scope semantics (no equivalent once mark is gone); adapts the
rest to set Cache-Control directly instead of calling mark(); adds DeclaredCacheControlTest
for reason(); strengthens the five declared-vs-runtime Cache-Control combinations (runtime
private/no-store -> not stored, #[HttpCache(isPrivate)]/#[HttpCache(noStore)]/#[NoHttpCache]
-> still stored) with call-counter proof of actual server-side storage, not just header
values.
…t the re-fetch) as a degrade-to-fresh-render boundary
A hole whose onGet() succeeds but whose own template fails on the refresh re-render
previously had no coverage distinct from FlakyHole's onGet()-failure case. Mutating
the kept toString() call back to (string) $ro now fails this test (the template
failure is swallowed into an empty hole instead of degrading), confirmed and reverted.
It is a plain Stringable helper, not a ResourceObject - RenderTimeToken (the deleted
mark-based equivalent) lived at the fake-app src root under FakeVendor\HelloWorld for
the same reason; tests/Fake/fake-app/src/Resource/App/ is reserved for app resources.

tests/DeclaredCacheControlTest.php
Walkthrough
The pull request replaces mark-based cache refusal with checks for runtime private and no-store response headers. It updates query and donut storage, removes mark and gate APIs, and adds coverage for donut refresh failures that fall back to fresh rendering.
DeclaredCacheControl identifies runtime private and no-store directives that differ from declared cache-control values. Query storage skips those responses. Header handling retains the response directive and removes CDN-facing headers. Tests and documentation describe the behavior.
Donut cache storage and mark removal src/DonutRepository.php, src/DonutRequest.php, src/ResourceDonut.php, src/DonutCacheModule.php, src/UncacheableMark*, src/UnstorableGate*, tests/Donut*, tests/ResourceDonutTest.php, tests/Fake/fake-app/src/*, tests/Fake/fake-app/var/templates/*
Donut storage uses the declared cache-control reason to decide whether to save a response and set CDN headers. Donut APIs no longer receive mark services. Mark and gate implementations, bindings, and mark-focused fixtures and tests are removed or updated.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names a release preparation (1.18.0) and two changes: dropping the unreleased mark guard and keeping the runtime-private guard. The changeset matches both: it deletes the UncacheableMark, UnstorableGate, and DonutHeaderSetter classes and adds DeclaredCacheControl for the runtime-private Cache-Control check. The title does not mention the restored 1.17.0 signatures or the removed ResourceDonut::FORMAT constant, but it covers the main change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description states the purpose (prepare 1.18.0 by removing the unreleased mark-based guard) and lists the removed classes and interfaces. It also explains the restored 1.17.0 signatures, the kept runtime-private guard via DeclaredCacheControl::reason(), and the README note on per-user data. Each point matches the raw summary of the changeset.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
The only directly linked issue is #238, which is closed. It supplies historical context only. No active directly linked target remains, so no linked-issue coding requirement applies to this pull request. The PR description also states that #238 is superseded and adds no coding requirements.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Most changes match the stated 1.18.0 scope: removal of the mark-based guard classes, interfaces, module, and exception; restored 1.17.0 signatures; the runtime-private guard via DeclaredCacheControl; and related test, fixture, and README/CHANGELOG updates. One change does not match the stated scope. src/Log/KeepMutationsAndFailures.php no longer treats semantic_logger_truncated as a retained effect. The same change removes the Unreleased CHANGELOG entry that described this retention rule, and it removes RetentionPolicyTest::testASessionCutAtTheRecordLimitIsKept. This change does not relate to the mark guard, the runtime-private guard, or the 1.x fixes listed in the PR description. The PR description does not list it under Removed, and its statement that the rest of the CHANGELOG is kept conflicts with the removed entry.
Resolution
Either (a) restore the semantic_logger_truncated retention rule in src/Log/KeepMutationsAndFailures.php, its RetentionPolicyTest case, and its CHANGELOG entry, or (b) state in the PR description that this retention rule is removed for 1.18.0 and why, and update the CHANGELOG to match that decision.

479 tests green at highest (bear/resource 1.34.1) and at --prefer-lowest --prefer-stable (1.23.0); 100% line coverage of src; composer cs/sa/phpmd clean.
BC versus tag 1.17.0 (mechanical diff of public classes, interfaces, constructors, methods and consts):
the interface set is identical (22);
the only new class is DeclaredCacheControl;
constructors only append optional parameters;
ResourceDonut::refresh() is identical;
the only public removal is ResourceDonut::FORMAT, which is documented in the CHANGELOG.
Runtime-private guard, 5 cases × value/view/static/donut and the degraded-read paths:
Reviewed by Claude Fable 5.1 and GPT-6 Astra: release-ready.
Not covered by design (stated in the README): QR reads only the response's own header. A per-user value reaching cached output another way (a child's value read in onGet(), #[ResourceParam], a template-generated value) is stored.
