🟡 Minor · Accept every strictly positive timeout.
libs/full/agas_base/src/rpc_timeout.cpp:19-30
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winAccept every strictly positive timeout. The public contract states that
set_rpc_timeoutsucceeds for a strictly positivehpx::chrono::steady_duration. A positive duration below one millisecond is truncated to zero byduration_cast, so thetimeout_ms.count() != 0guard returnsfalseand leaves the previous timeout unchanged. Preserve sub-millisecond precision, or change the public contract and documentation to require a whole-millisecond minimum at the API boundary.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

The script was built entirely on hub, which GitHub archived in favour of gh, and it exited immediately when hub was not on PATH. Rewrite the three calls it made in terms of gh. The GraphQL milestone lookup is gone: gh accepts a milestone title directly, which is what the version parsed out of CMakeLists.txt already is, so the number never has to be resolved. gh pr list has no --milestone option, so the milestone is passed as a search qualifier there, which also removes the need to print the milestone per PR and strip it back off with sed. The separate jq dependency goes away with the GraphQL query, since gh applies the filter itself. Behaviour differences, all intentional: - closed milestones are now considered as well, so the lists can be regenerated after a release is out. The old lookup only searched open milestones. - a milestone that cannot be found is reported instead of silently producing two empty lists. - errexit is enabled alongside pipefail. pipefail alone does not stop the script after a failed standalone command, so a failing issue query paired with a succeeding pull request query used to exit successfully and emit notes with the issue list missing. Both queries exit 0 on an empty result set when --json is used, so a milestone with nothing closed still produces the empty section rather than aborting. - underscores that end a word are escaped. reStructuredText reads such a word as a hyperlink reference, so the title of #6500, "The test partitioned_vector_ doesn't finish in a very long time", rendered as a broken link. Underscores inside words are left alone. Also correct the name of the script in the release procedure, which referred to tools/generate_pr_issue_list.sh rather than tools/generate_issue_pr_list.sh. Verified against the 2.0.0 milestone: the generated lists parse with no structural warnings under docutils, the counts match what the milestone itself reports, and the lines match the formatting already used in the existing release notes. Refs #7547 Signed-off-by: Abhishek Kumar <[email protected]>
GitHub titles are not restricted to ASCII: the ones on this milestone carry ellipses from GitHub truncating long titles, curly quotes, en and em dashes, and in one case an emoji. The release notes are kept plain ASCII, so map the punctuation that has an ASCII equivalent and drop whatever is left, tidying up the whitespace an emoji leaves behind. Requested by Hartmut in #7549. Doing it in the generator rather than in the release notes keeps the next regeneration from undoing it. Refs #7547 Signed-off-by: Abhishek Kumar <[email protected]>
docs/sphinx/releases/whats_new_2_0_0.rst was still the empty skeleton, although master is already at 2.0.0 and the file is already listed in docs/sphinx/releases.rst. Fill it in with the detailed notes Hartmut wrote in #7549, covering the language baseline, C++20 modules, the early C++26 adoption, the move to stdexec for senders and receivers, the tag_invoke removal, the parcelport and AGAS work, the new tracing infrastructure, collectives, the supervision module, parallel algorithms, the scheduler, the build system and the security fixes. Add the closed issue and closed pull request lists generated from the 2.0.0 milestone: 120 issues and 687 pull requests. The external projects the notes mention are linked through the substitutions the documentation already defines for Tracy, the Intel ITT API, APEX, EVE and NVIDIA. stdexec and LCI had no substitution yet, so add those two to the epilog in cmake/templates/conf.py.in, pointing at the repositories the build system already fetches them from. The prose follows the conventions of the surrounding documentation: the |hpx| substitution rather than a bare HPX, "-" bullets, and plain ASCII throughout. The generated lists are ASCII as well, as of the change to tools/generate_issue_pr_list.sh on the branch of #7548. Two adaptations to fit the file into the documentation as it stands: - the title block is the one this file already had, so the hpx_2_0_0 label and the entry in docs/sphinx/releases.rst keep working. - a Breaking changes section is kept, as in every previous release notes file, summarising the four changes that require users to act and pointing at the detailed sections for each. The lists will want regenerating once more shortly before the release, since the milestone still has open items. The release date in the title is deliberately left as TBD. The Windows builds of jq end their output lines with CRLF. The carriage returns ended up in the PR numbers and merge commit hashes the script reads back, so git did not find any merge commit and every PR found through the milestone was silently omitted from the generated list. The console unregisters a locality that force_disconnect() removes before it records it as disconnected. A resolution in between that finds no cached endpoints got bad_parameter, which the credit decrements don't ignore. The locality is marked as disconnecting before it is unregistered, so report that as locality_was_disconnected too. departed_locality_7384 now accepts locality_was_disconnected for a resolution of the departed locality.
