### Bug Fixes

`[compat]` pins `Aqua` to exactly `0.8.16`. This is a **compat-only change**; no package code
is touched and nothing a caller sees changes.

`Aqua v0.8.17`, released 2026-09-17, turns the `persistent_tasks` check red for this package
on every CI platform and Julia version. Its
[#394](https://github.com/JuliaTesting/Aqua.jl/pull/394) writes the precompile wrapper's
manifest from `Base.locate_package` instead of `Pkg.develop`, and the `manifest_entries` walk
it added iterates each project's `deps` **and `weakdeps`**, raising
`Unable to locate <name>, a dependency of <project>` when one cannot be located. A weak
dependency that is not installed is the normal case: here `ChainRulesCore` behind
`AbstractFFTs`, which this package reaches through FFTW. So the check fails on a healthy
environment.

`Aqua.test_all` adds no enclosing testset and stops at its first failing check, so the error
took the rest of `runtests.jl` with it — a suite that appears to have run had verified nothing
after `aqua_tests.jl`.

An exact bound rather than `0.8`, because `0.8.17` is the broken version and a range that
excludes it has no other spelling. Lift it to `0.8` when the walk skips weak dependencies it
cannot locate, and drop this pin with it.
