Rewrite skill descriptions with triggers and example requests - #12
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Give every skill a third-person description that says what it does, when to use it, and quotes example requests, so Claude can match the user's wording to the right skill. Keep the metadata in description only, since claude.ai rejects the when_to_use field. Reframe mimi-cbt as CBT-informed self-help rather than therapy. Add a lint warning for descriptions without an example request. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01N6QLSr7Xy6yQNtiWmjghNz

| description: Guides the user through CBT-informed (cognitive behavioural therapy) self-help exercises with clear guardrails, such as noticing thoughts, spotting thinking traps and reframing them. This is supportive reflection, not a replacement for a professional therapist or crisis care. Use when the user wants to work through anxious, negative or stuck thoughts, or asks for a CBT exercise. Examples include "help me reframe this thought", "I keep thinking I'll fail", "walk me through a thought record" and "I feel overwhelmed, can we do a CBT exercise?". |

Summary
Rewrite the
descriptionof all 16 skills in one consistent shape, so Claude can match the user's wording to the right skill:Each description is 399–547 characters (limit 1,024).
Why only
description: Claude Code also supports awhen_to_usefield, but claude.ai uploads and the Skills API reject it with a hard error, and these skills are also used on claude.ai.Other changes:
mimi-cbtis now described as CBT-informed self-help exercises, explicitly not a replacement for a therapist or crisis care.check-gmaildescription is clearer about needing the Gmail connector.scripts/lint-plugins.pywarns when a description quotes no example request; README's Checks section updated.Note: the five skills synced from claude.ai (
audit-mimis-imac,depth-breakdown,daily-decision-maker,get-astro-today,run-tarot-reading) now differ from the claude.ai copies in their description only.Verification
