For a substantial change, open an issue first so the maintainers can confirm the direction. The contributing guide covers the rest.

Response targets

These targets come from TRIAGE.md and SECURITY.md. The project is maintained part-time, so treat them as targets, not guarantees.

• Bug reports: a first human response within 7 days.
• Feature requests: triaged, then accepted or closed with a reason, within 30 days.
• Security reports: acknowledged within 5 business days, with a status update within 14 business days.
