Adds SUPERMETRY_MANAGED (default false) for operator-run instances.

  • Config parsed and reported as managed in GET /api/private/auth/config.
  • SPA: instance administration links hidden (account menu, sidebar, palette, update badge); /app/admin/* shows a notice before any admin data loads.
  • Server: POST admin/update/check and apply answer 409 when managed (session admin or admin API key); update status reports update_supported false. Rest of the admin API unchanged.
  • Docs, .env.example, CHANGELOG.

Reported as managed in GET /api/private/auth/config. On a managed instance
the in-app update check and apply answer 409 and the update status reports
update_supported false.
Menu, sidebar and palette entries are hidden and /app/admin/* shows a
notice before any admin page loads.

Walkthrough

Adds the SUPERMETRY_MANAGED setting and exposes its value through auth config. Managed instances display an administration notice, hide in-app instance-administration links, and refuse update check and apply requests with HTTP 409.

Changes: Managed instance mode

Layer / File(s) Summary
Managed setting and auth-config contract
.env.example, internal/config/*, cmd/supermetry/serve.go, internal/platform/http/private.go, internal/platform/http/handlers_auth.go, internal/platform/http/matrix_test.go, web/src/features/auth/api.ts, web/src/lib/api.ts, web/src/lib/instanceConfig.ts, docs/guide/configuration.md
Adds the setting with a default of false, passes it to the HTTP dependencies, and returns it in auth config. The client types and hooks read the value.
Managed update handling
internal/platform/http/handlers_update.go, internal/platform/http/managed_test.go, internal/api/openapi.yaml, CHANGELOG.md
Managed instances receive HTTP 409 responses for update check and apply. Update status reports updates as unsupported. Tests and API documentation cover these behaviours.
Managed administration routes
web/src/routes/app.admin.tsx, web/src/routes/-managed-instance.test.tsx, web/src/features/admin/ManagedNotice.tsx, web/src/messages/*
The admin route checks auth config and renders a managed-instance notice instead of the administration layout. Localised notice text and route tests are added.
Managed administration navigation
web/src/components/AccountSidebar.tsx, web/src/components/AppShell.tsx, web/src/components/AppShell.test.tsx, web/src/components/HeaderMenus.tsx, web/src/components/HeaderMenus.test.tsx, web/src/components/paletteCommands.ts, web/src/components/paletteCommands.test.ts
The sidebar, account menu, command palette, and app header use managed state when showing instance-administration links and administrator status. Component tests cover the affected navigation.

Use the selected locale for the managed notice.

In web/src/features/admin/ManagedNotice.tsx:13-15, the notice reads en.admin directly. Bengali, German, and Spanish users therefore see English text despite the new translations. Read these three keys from the active locale catalogue.

Withhold admin links until managed state is known.

In web/src/lib/instanceConfig.ts:23, a pending or failed auth-config request produces managed: false. On a managed instance, AccountSidebar and AccountMenu then show instance-administration links, potentially for as long as the request fails. Keep the admin destination hidden until the query succeeds, and provide a retry state for failures.

Do not treat a failed config request as unmanaged.

In web/src/routes/app.admin.tsx:15, the catch converts an auth-config failure to undefined. The route then mounts administration pages on a managed instance and can load admin data instead of showing a failure state. Preserve the error and show a retry state before the child page mounts.
