Abby focuses on privacy. This means it won't track any personalized user data and uses no marketing cookies.
Signups on tryabby.com also store the UTM parameters they came with, see [TRACKING.md](./TRACKING.md).

Qualify the privacy claim for the new UTM attribution.

The sentence before the new line says Abby "won't track any personalized user data and uses no marketing cookies." That claim no longer holds for tryabby.com signups. The new abby_utm cookie stores campaign attribution, and the UTM values are saved on the user record. The new line 10 describes this behavior, but it does not qualify line 9.

📝 Suggested fix
-Abby focuses on privacy. This means it won't track any personalized user data and uses no marketing cookies.
+Abby focuses on privacy. This means it won't track any personalized user data and uses no marketing cookies, except for the UTM attribution on tryabby.com signups described below.

Review comment at @README.md at line 10:
Qualify the privacy claim in the README sentence stating that Abby uses no
marketing cookies: clarify that tryabby.com signups use the abby_utm cookie and
store UTM attribution, while preserving the rest of the claim.

After applying the fix, consider running `coderabbit review --agent` for local
review. Visit https://docs.coderabbit.ai/cli?utm_source=ghpr

## UTM parameters

When someone visits the website with UTM parameters (`utm_source`,
`utm_medium`, `utm_campaign`, `utm_term`, `utm_content`), they are stored in a
first-party cookie (`abby_utm`) for 30 days. If that person signs up, the
parameters are saved on their user so we know which campaign brought them in.

Update the public privacy claim.

This change stores campaign attribution in a cookie and associates it with a user. The README still says Abby uses no marketing cookies and tracks no personalized user data. Update that claim so users receive an accurate description of the new behavior. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

Review comment at @TRACKING.md around lines 20 - 23:
Update the README’s privacy claim to accurately state that UTM campaign
parameters are stored in the first-party abby_utm cookie for 30 days and
associated with a user’s account upon signup; remove or qualify the statements
that Abby uses no marketing cookies and tracks no personalized user data.

Added a line next to the privacy note in the README that points to TRACKING.md (3e1f497).

@cstrnt one thing worth flagging: abby_utm is a marketing cookie and tryabby.com has no consent banner. Depending on how you handle consent there (the Abby A/B test cookies on the landing page are in the same situation), you might want this behind consent. Happy to change the README wording, put the cookie behind consent, or drop the README line, whatever you prefer.

The cookie is never sent to third parties.
