Feature Summary
Allow users to define a custom recurrence interval for chores, for example:
Every 3 days
Every 5 days
Every 10 days
TaskMate currently offers several predefined recurring intervals, but there is no way to choose an arbitrary number of days.
What problem does this solve?
Some household chores do not fit naturally into the existing predefined schedules.
Examples:
- Change towels every 3 days
- Water a plant every 5 days
- Clean a specific area every 10 days
Using a weekly schedule makes these chores either too frequent or not frequent enough.
A configurable “Every N days” option would make recurring chores much more flexible without requiring separate Home Assistant automations or workarounds.
Proposed Solution
Add a custom recurrence option to the existing recurring schedule configuration:
Every [ N ] days
Where N is a positive integer.
Ideally, this would behave consistently with TaskMate's existing recurring scheduling logic. For example, if a chore is configured for every 3 days, its next occurrence would be calculated using the same rules TaskMate already applies to recurring chores.
Possible UI example:
Schedule Mode: Recurring
Recurrence: Custom interval
Every: 3 days
If useful in the future, the same concept could potentially be extended to weeks or months, but supporting custom day intervals alone would already cover many common household use cases.
Which area does this relate to?
Chore management (config flow)
Alternatives Considered
A user could approximate the schedule using existing weekly intervals or create a Home Assistant automation to control availability.
However, both approaches add unnecessary complexity and do not accurately represent chores that genuinely recur every few days.
Adding a native “Every N days” recurrence seems simpler, more intuitive, and consistent with TaskMate's existing scheduling features.
