Feature Summary
Localize TaskMate-generated push notification messages and notification action buttons.
TaskMate's UI already supports localization, while the built-in notification messages and actionable notification labels currently use fixed English text.
For example, a German chore may currently result in a mixed-language notification like:
Alex completed 'Spülmaschine ausräumen' (+5 Punkte) — awaiting approval.
Buttons:
Approve / Reject
What problem does this solve?
This creates an inconsistent user experience in otherwise localized installations.
The chore name and reward labels may already be German because they come from the user's TaskMate configuration, while the surrounding notification text and action buttons remain English.
This is especially noticeable for interactive approval notifications shown outside Home Assistant.
Proposed Solution
Use TaskMate's existing localization system for:
- notification titles
- notification message text
- action button labels such as Approve / Reject
- ideally all other TaskMate-generated push notifications
For German, the same notification could become:
Alex hat „Spülmaschine ausräumen“ erledigt (+5 Punkte) – wartet auf Freigabe.
Buttons:
Genehmigen / Ablehnen
Ideally, notifications would use the currently selected locale, with English as a fallback if no translation is available.
I would be happy to help provide or review the German translations if useful.
Which area does this relate to?
Notifications / alerts
Alternatives Considered
A Home Assistant automation could replace TaskMate's built-in notifications with custom localized notifications.
However, this would duplicate functionality that TaskMate already provides, require additional configuration for each user, and would not solve the issue for other supported languages.
Extending TaskMate's existing localization system to notifications therefore seems more consistent and maintainable.
