The strip was a rotating editorial pick not ordered by level — three of its last four were Advanced — so the one thing on the page aimed at a newcomer sent them into the deep end. The learning paths now sit on the page body directly after the hero and do it properly.

What went

The strip markup and grid, FEATURED_SLUGS, the block that cloned four cards into it, the Featured badge, and every .feature-card / .feature-title / .feature-copy / .feature-meta rule and selector. The one card that was a feature-card — Quantum Vault KpqC — is now an ordinary project-card in Post-Quantum, which is where it already rendered. 222 cards, unchanged.

The hero's own class names went too, because with the strip gone the word named nothing: .featured → .site-intro, .featured-head/-heading/-sub → their .intro- equivalents, #featured → #site-intro. Nothing anchored to #featured, which is why that was safe.

No new instructor line — the hero already has one, and it's bigger

You asked for a /teach/ line unless the hero already carries one. It does: the teaching band sits inside the hero with a heading, copy, an "Open the course modules →" button, the address to share, and all five module links. A one-line link beside it would be strictly less visible, so the band stays and nothing was added.

/teach/ gains a Learning paths note

A short section linking back to the hub's paths rather than copying them, framed for assigning rather than for self-study, and saying why there's no copy: it would drift from the one the catalog renders. The existing self-learner link in "Who this is for" now deep-links to the band too.

Everything that read or generated the featured set

readme-sync drops the Featured table, its featured flag and the ordering that hoisted four cards · README.md drops the section · catalog-structure-check and lab-dates drop the feature-card alternative from their card regexes · CLAUDE.md's table row, generated-tables paragraph and conventions line updated · corpus side in crypto-counsel#8.

The 2026-09 incident note quoting "Featured slug has no card" is left as written — a dated record of what a generator printed at the time.

One defect fixed in passing

The Quantum Vault KpqC card carried data-added, data-updated and data-level three times over, plus fifty blank attribute lines, from repeated stamping against a head regex that matched its feature-card shape oddly. Rebuilt with each attribute once.

I also caught myself mid-change: my first rebuild of that card dropped its href, which took the catalog to 221 cards. corpus-sync and level-sync both went red and named it; restored and re-verified.

Checks

All eleven catalog checkers, readme-sync, teach-build, corpus validate.

Layout and axe WCAG A/AA at 1440 / 1280 / 760 / 420: 0 violations, no overflow, no console errors, 222 cards, strip absent, teach link present, paths immediately after the hero at every width.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

The strip was a rotating editorial pick that was not ordered by level -- three
of its last four were Advanced -- so the one thing on the page aimed at a
newcomer sent them into the deep end. The learning paths now sit on the page
body directly after the hero and do it properly.

What went: the strip markup and its grid, FEATURED_SLUGS, the block that cloned
four cards into it, the Featured badge, and every .feature-card / .feature-title
/ .feature-copy / .feature-meta rule and selector. The one card that WAS a
feature-card -- Quantum Vault KpqC -- is now an ordinary project-card in
Post-Quantum, which is where it already rendered.

The hero's own class names went too, because with the strip gone the word named
nothing: .featured became .site-intro, .featured-head/.featured-heading/
.featured-sub became their .intro- equivalents, and #featured became
#site-intro. Nothing anchored to #featured, which is why this was safe.

No new instructor line. The brief said to add one unless the hero already
carries a /teach/ link, and it does: the teaching band sits inside the hero with
a heading, copy, an "Open the course modules" button, the address to share and
all five module links. A one-line link beside it would have been strictly less
visible, so the band stays and nothing was added.

/teach/ gains a short "Learning paths" section that links back to the hub's
paths rather than copying them, and says why: a copy would drift from the one
the catalog renders. The existing self-learner link in "Who this is for" now
deep-links to the band as well.

Generators and checkers that read the featured set: readme-sync drops the
Featured table, its featured flag and the ordering that hoisted four cards;
README drops the section; catalog-structure-check and lab-dates drop the
feature-card alternative from their card regexes; CLAUDE.md's table row,
generated-tables paragraph and conventions line are updated. The 2026-09 incident
note that quotes "Featured slug has no card" is left as written -- it is a dated
record of what a generator printed at the time.

One defect fixed in passing: the Quantum Vault KpqC card carried data-added,
data-updated and data-level three times over plus fifty blank attribute lines,
from repeated stamping against a head regex that matched its feature-card shape
oddly. Rebuilt with each attribute once.

Checks: all eleven catalog checkers, readme-sync, teach-build, and corpus
validate. Layout and axe WCAG A/AA at 1440, 1280, 760 and 420 -- 0 violations,
no overflow, no console errors, 222 cards, strip absent, teach link present,
