The Claude desktop Code tab (and claude.ai/code) now blocks any message that starts with a slash command and also contains another slash command, a link, or inline formatting (anthropics/claude-code#98568, anthropics/claude-code#98577). Manual-only skills can no longer be combined in one message, and the model can't load them on request because disable-model-invocation: true hides them from it.

This removes the field from six skills, so a request like "also use the brainstorming skill" loads them directly:

  • address-issues, brainstorming, clarify, delegate, develop-skills, next-goal

Their descriptions still say explicit invocation only, which is the pattern skills/develop-skills/guides/claude-invocation.md already uses for skills loaded by name. The Codex adapters (agents/openai.yaml) are unchanged. cleanup-branches, macos-storage-cleanup, windows-cleanup, and sjskills stay manual-only because they delete or rewrite files.

The new README section Temporary workarounds lists the changed skills and the revert steps, so this can be undone once the desktop bug is fixed.

Validation: scripts/validate-skills passes, and the Node test suite passes (40/40). Claude discovery after install hasn't been checked yet; that happens after merge and reconcile.

The Claude desktop Code tab now rejects any message that starts with a
slash command and also contains another slash command, link, or inline
formatting (anthropics/claude-code#98568, #98577). Manual-only skills can
therefore no longer be combined in one message, and the model cannot load
them on request because disable-model-invocation hides them from it.

Drop the field from address-issues, brainstorming, clarify, delegate,
develop-skills, and next-goal so a typed request can load them by name.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Six skills can once again be invoked by the AI, while their descriptions continue to recommend invoking them explicitly.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on the temporary workaround, including how to restore the previous settings and update existing installations after the upstream issue is resolved.

Walkthrough

The README documents a temporary Claude Code workaround. Six skills no longer set disable-model-invocation: true; their descriptions and Codex adapters remain unchanged.

Preserve manual-only invocation for these skills.

Without disable-model-invocation: true, Claude can select a matching skill without a slash-command invocation. The retained description is advice, not enforcement. Restore the metadata in all six skills and document that users must send affected commands separately until the Claude Code bug is fixed.

CodeRabbit noted that the linked issues' titles cover a URL and non-ASCII
names, not every case the README listed. Cite the desktop warning text and
the local two-command reproduction for the broader claim, and say which
case each issue tracks.
