A GPU-accelerated ST-Map (UV remap) node for Blackmagic Design Fusion — the equivalent of Nuke's STMap node.
Accepts a source image and a float ST-Map (where Red = U and Green = V encode normalized sampling coordinates), and warps the source image accordingly. Essential for lens distortion workflows with matchmoving software.
Use cases:
- Apply lens undistortion/redistortion from 3DEqualizer, PFTrack, SynthEyes
- Bake arbitrary warps into a reusable map
- Any per-pixel coordinate remapping
Copy Fuses/STMap.fuse to your Fuses directory:
| OS | Path |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/Fusion/Fuses/ |
| Windows | %AppData%\Blackmagic Design\Fusion\Fuses\ |
| Linux | ~/.fusion/BlackmagicDesign/Fusion/Fuses/ |
| OS | Path |
|---|---|
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Fuses/ |
| Windows | %AppData%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Fuses\ |
| Linux | ~/.local/share/DaVinciResolve/Fusion/Fuses/ |
Restart Fusion / DaVinci Resolve. The node appears under Transform > Distort > ST-Map (search shortcut: STM).
- Add the ST-Map node to your comp
- Connect your plate to the Source input (first/orange arrow)
- Connect your ST-Map EXR to the ST Map input (second/green arrow)
- The output resolution matches the ST-Map
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| U Channel | Which ST-Map channel drives horizontal lookup (default: Red) |
| V Channel | Which ST-Map channel drives vertical lookup (default: Green) |
| Invert U | Flip horizontal axis |
| Invert V | Flip vertical axis — enable for ST-Maps from After Effects |
| Transparent Background | When checked, out-of-range areas are transparent (alpha=0) for compositing. Default is opaque black. |
- ST-Maps must be 32-bit float EXR. 8-bit or 16-bit maps will produce visible stepping artifacts due to insufficient coordinate precision.
- GPU with OpenCL/Metal support for real-time performance. Falls back to CPU automatically if unavailable (functional but slower).
Fusion and Nuke share the same bottom-left origin with V-axis pointing up. ST-Maps from Nuke, 3DEqualizer, PFTrack, and SynthEyes work directly without any axis flipping. Enable Invert V for maps originating from After Effects or other top-left-origin applications.
The node reads normalized UV coordinates from the ST-Map's color channels and uses them to sample the source image at those positions. On GPU, this uses Fusion's DVIPComputeNode with hardware texture sampling for real-time performance. On CPU, it falls back to Fusion's built-in SamplePixelB bilinear interpolation.
