What and why

The project is now Pangular Inspector, the unified Angular devtools (decided in #17), released as 0.0.7.

  • Name in text: the panel, popup, Chrome extension, agent messages, docs site, README and contributing docs say Pangular Inspector. The docs tagline is "The unified Angular devtools".
  • Package: @pangular-inspector/devtools (was @santoshyadavdev/ng-devtools), with an npm README. The folder is packages/devtools.
  • CLI: pangular (npx @pangular-inspector/devtools dev).
  • Every identifier uses pangular: the devframe id (so agents see a pangular MCP server with pangular_* tools), RPC names, __pangular URL paths, window.__pangular* globals, storage keys, public APIs (initPangularHub, pangularVite, withPangular, providePangularHttp, ...), pangular.config.json, PANGULAR_* env vars, [pangular] logs, --pangular-* CSS variables, data-pangular, and the MCP server key in the setup samples.
  • Docs: links point at https://pangular-inspector.dev, with a new social card (og.png). The logo is unchanged.
  • 0.0.7: package and extension versions, docs banners and a changelog for everything since 0.0.6.

Kept on purpose: the GitHub repo URL, the Nx project names and dist/angular-devtools output path (the Render deploy uses them), the Cloudflare worker name, and the one mention of Google's official Angular DevTools extension. Nobody uses the package yet, so there are no migration notes.

Closes #208
Closes #211

How it was verified

  • pnpm commit:check
  • pnpm format:check
  • pnpm typecheck
  • pnpm test:devtools and pnpm test:panel
  • pnpm skills:check
  • pnpm docs:build
  • pnpm extension:build and extension/ui committed
  • pnpm test:axe
  • pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
  • Live: the SSR demo fills the panel with live data, HTTP MCP reports the pangular server with pangular_* tools and a tool call returns real data, and pangular mcp over stdio works
  • Reviewed twice: package, CLI, extension and runtime pairs; docs, skills, roles and UI text

The project is now Pangular Inspector, the unified Angular devtools. User-facing text in the panel, popup, extension, MCP name and docs says Pangular Inspector, the package is @pangular-inspector/core (a placeholder until the final name is picked in pangular-inspector#211) and the CLI command is pangular. Internal identifiers such as RPC names, globals and config names stay as they are.

Explanation

The changes update product wording across source strings, extension metadata, documentation, examples, package references, and CLI tests, which supports the rename in [#208]. The summary does not establish the name exposed to MCP clients. It also excludes extension/ui/assets/index-tAhVIHGz.js, so the contents of the packaged panel bundle cannot be confirmed. These gaps prevent confirming that all relevant text uses the new name.

Docstring coverage is 44.44% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Analyzed 18 functions across 40 files. (53 skipped: 53 unsupported.)

let me know when you are done, so I can publish the package and extension

The package takes its final name, @pangular-inspector/devtools, instead of the placeholder. The changelog, the install page and the CLI page tell existing users the package and the command were renamed, the yarn and bun run commands name the pangular binary, and the remaining old names in the popup, panel hints, agent messages, extension heading and docs say Pangular Inspector.
Every remaining ng-devtools name moves to pangular: the devframe id, RPC and tool names, URL paths, globals, storage keys, public APIs, the config file, env vars, CSS variables, the data attribute and the MCP server key. The package folder is now packages/devtools. Docs links point at pangular-inspector.dev, the package gets an npm README and a new social card, and the package and extension are at 0.0.7 with a changelog for everything since 0.0.6.

BREAKING CHANGE: the package, CLI, public APIs, config file, env vars and MCP tool names use the pangular names.

AGENT: After being merged @santoshyadavdev

  1. pnpm devtools:publish publishes @pangular-inspector/devtools 0.0.7.
  2. pnpm extension:zip, then upload dist/pangular-inspector-extension.zip to the Chrome Web Store and rename the listing.
  3. npm deprecate @santoshyadavdev/ng-devtools "Renamed to @pangular-inspector/devtools".
  4. On Render, rename NG_DEVTOOLS_AUTH to PANGULAR_AUTH.
  5. Deploy the docs.

AGENT: Naming after this PR @santoshyadavdev

What Name
Product Pangular Inspector, "the unified Angular devtools"
npm package @pangular-inspector/devtools
CLI command pangular (npx @pangular-inspector/devtools dev)
MCP server agents see pangular, with tools named pangular_*
Code identifiers pangular prefix: initPangularHub, pangularVite, withPangular, pangular.config.json, PANGULAR_* env vars, __pangular URLs, [pangular] logs
Package folder packages/devtools
Docs https://pangular-inspector.dev

Still on the old name, on purpose:

  • GitHub repo santoshyadavdev/angular-devtools: changes when it moves to the org. GitHub redirects the old links.
  • Nx project names and the build output path angular-devtools: the Render demo's start command uses them, so they change together with Render later.
  • Logo: unchanged until we pick one in Vote: pick the Pangular Inspector logo #210.
