fix: satisfy the lints added in Clippy 1.99 - #36

must_use_candidate on Client::connection, and assert_is_empty in two tests, which now compare with an empty value so a failure shows it. Rust 1.99 added `must_use_candidate` and `assert_is_empty` findings; CI uses the latest stable, so lint failed on every PR (e.g. #35). `make verify` passes on 1.99.
