The sticker and sound panels measured the keyboard once per conversation and forgot it on the way out, so opening one without typing first left it shorter than the keyboard and the contents looked squashed. The measured height is now remembered for good. Desktop builds look for a newer release on startup and offer it with a download button in the sidebar, showing progress while it arrives and opening the installer once it is ready. Updates can also be looked for on demand from Settings. Everything travels over Tor, and a download is only offered for installation once it matches the checksum published with the release, and its signature where one is provided. Releases now also carry a macOS package, so Mac users are offered an update like everyone else.
macOS ships LibreSSL, which cannot produce Ed25519 signatures, so the signing step failed there and could not be run locally either. Signing now goes through the JDK that every build job already installs, and the signer doubles as the tool for creating the release key.
Desktop builds now carry the public half of the release signing key, so a downloaded installer is only offered for installation once its signature matches. An installer that arrives unsigned or altered is discarded and the releases page is offered instead.
