Summary

Bring the user docs in line with muslimtify v0.4.4. The existing pages were audited against the rebuilt binary's --help output for every subcommand, the config writer in src/core/config.c, the daemon code for both platforms, the vendored prayertimes.h, and the commit history since v0.4.3.

What Changes?

Behaviour new in v0.4.4 that was undocumented:

  • location gps on now also turns automatic location on, hand-set coordinates are replaced at the next refresh, and --lat / --long turns GPS off. A config with GPS on and auto-detect off is read as GPS off.
  • The first location set by hand requires both --lat and --long.
  • Stopping the daemon cuts a playing adhan.
  • dhur is accepted as an alias of dhuhr; prayer names are case-insensitive.
  • A failed location refresh is retried after ten minutes, and a successful one rebuilds today's notifications at once.
  • version prints the method in use.

Gaps that predate v0.4.4:

  • At most 10 reminders per prayer.
  • What daemon install registers on each platform: the systemd user unit and its path on Linux, the Task Scheduler task on Windows.
  • A table of commands removed before v0.4 (show --format json, show --no-header, location show, location refresh, location clear), which the binary still recognises only to print the replacement, with a matching troubleshooting entry.
  • Repository links pointed at github.com/rizukirr/muslimtify; the canonical repository is muslimtify-org/muslimtify. The COPR and PPA names are unchanged because those are the real package repositories.

Checked and left as is: all documented commands, flags, config keys and defaults, the numeric limits, and the high-latitude statement in calculation-methods.md, which matches the prayertimes.h that muslimtify 0.4.4 vendors.

Type

  • Blog post (new or edited) — blog/
  • Documentation — docs/

Checklist

  • This PR only touches blog/ and/or docs/ (plus blog/authors.yml / blog/tags.yml if adding a post).
  • npm run build passes locally (catches broken links — the site uses onBrokenLinks: 'throw').
  • Every command I documented has been tested against the real Muslimtify CLI. (Compared against the --help output and source of a v0.4.4 build; the new text describes behaviour rather than adding new commands.)
  • Images are embedded via GitHub asset URLs (not committed into static/). (No images.)

AI disclosure

Written with Claude Code (Claude Fable 5.1) by the maintainer. The model performed the audit of the muslimtify source and help output and drafted the edits; every statement was traced to a specific line of source or help text before being written.

Document what changed in v0.4.4: GPS now turns automatic location on and
hand-set coordinates turn it off, the daemon cuts a playing adhan when it
stops, the dhur alias, the first-time requirement for both coordinates,
the ten minute retry after a failed location refresh, and the ten reminder
limit. Describe the Windows Task Scheduler task and the Linux unit path,
add the removed command table for old scripts, and point every repository
link at muslimtify-org.
