ISC DHCP Server has reached EOL #63

Closed

Description

@modem7

The 4.4.3-P1 and 4.1-ESV-R16-P2 versions of ISC DHCP, released on October 5, 2022, are the last maintenance versions of this software that ISC plans to publish. If we become aware of a significant security vulnerability, we might make an exception to this, but it is our intention to cease actively maintaining this codebase.

    I'll keep the latest Docker images up, but I will not be updating them any further.

    Addressed in #64: the image now moves from Alpine (which dropped dhcrelay entirely as of 3.21) to debian:trixie-slim, which still packages and security-patches isc-dhcp-relay despite upstream ISC-DHCP being EOL. A weekly freshness check now flags when Debian's package version drifts ahead of what's published. Migrating to Kea (ISC's actual successor) is a bigger, separate project for another time.
