CovSel is now CovarianceSelection (mlakolar/CovarianceSelection.jl#19, merged as e1d910f), with a fresh UUID and version 0.1.0, and the repository is now mlakolar/CovarianceSelection.jl. It was renamed after the review of its registration (JuliaRegistries/General#172869), which is postponed. This PR moves DiffPrecTest onto the new name.

What changes

  • Dependency. Project.toml, exper/ and benchmark/compare/new/ depend on CovarianceSelection (UUID fb9f034c-9bf8-4e47-a0a4-723273363029, compat "0.1").
  • [sources] takes CovarianceSelection and ProximalSolvers from their masters. CovarianceSelection's master takes ProximalSolvers from its master too (0.1.1, SqrtQuadraticFunction: the square-root lasso from sufficient statistics; version 0.1.1 ProximalSolvers.jl#15), so both point there.
  • CI. On Julia 1.10, which ignores [sources], the step adds both packages from their masters in one Pkg.add.
  • Code.
    • using ProximalBase, CovarianceSelection;
    • CovarianceSelection.diffLoss in src/support.jl;
    • the docstring of src/diffEstimation.jl and exper/sim5/summarize.jl.
  • Prose. The README, exper/README.md and benchmark/compare/README.md name CovarianceSelection.jl. The README's "Related packages" list is left as it is, because the README pull request for the package family replaces it.
  • benchmark/compare/old/ keeps CovSel at 6f79034, its master before DiffPrecTest on ProximalSolvers' coordinate descent and ProximalBase 0.5, version 0.3.0 #7, since that is the code the benchmark compares against. Only its URL changes to the new repository; GitHub redirects the old one.

No functions change.

Release order

The packages are developed on master until they settle. Before DiffPrecTest is registered:

  1. ProximalSolvers 0.1.0 is registered (New package: ProximalSolvers v0.1.0 JuliaRegistries/General#173068, around Oct 26), then 0.1.1.
  2. CovarianceSelection 0.1.0 is registered after its [sources] are removed.
  3. Then this package's [sources] and the CI step go, and the version is set.

CovSel is renamed CovarianceSelection.jl (mlakolar/CovarianceSelection.jl,
formerly CovSel.jl) before its first release, with a new UUID and version
0.1.0. DiffPrecTest's dependency, its [sources] entries and the Julia 1.10
CI step move to the new name, UUID and URL, and its `using` and qualified
calls follow. ProximalSolvers comes from its master. The old side of
benchmark/compare keeps CovSel at its pinned commit.
