Custom Controls

Settings > Controls lets you rebind the in-game overlay and kit hotkey actions, on the keyboard and as gamepad combinations.

Actions and defaults

Group Action Default keyboard Default gamepad
In-game overlay Open / close the overlay F12 Start (hold)
In-game overlay Go to Team Kits F12 (hold) Select (hold)
Kit hotkeys Home kit: previous / next F7 / F8 —
Kit hotkeys Away kit: previous / next F9 / F10 —
Kit hotkeys Change kit type F11 —

Go to Team Kits opens the overlay straight on Kits > Team Kits, or moves an open overlay there. See Team Kits. The kit hotkeys cycle Kit Sets (see Kit Sets & hotkeys), or Team combinations in F11's Team combination step (see Team Kits).

Press and hold

Each row has a separate keyboard and gamepad Hold option. A key or gamepad combination can do two things: one when pressed and another when held 0.6 s. That is how F12 opens the overlay and F12 held goes to Team Kits.

When a key also has a hold action, its press action runs when the key is released. Opening the overlay is the exception: it still opens at once.

What can't be bound

  • Some keys and buttons always move around the open overlay, so they can't be bound:
    • Keyboard: the arrows, Enter, Esc, Page Up/Down, Home and End.
    • Gamepad: A, B, X, Y, LB, RB and the D-pad.
  • An overlay shortcut on the gamepad must include Start, Select, LS or RS.
  • FIFA still receives these keys and buttons while the overlay is closed, so pick ones the game doesn't use.
