statechart: 18 TLC-backed tests fail on macOS and never run in CI #308

Closed

Description

@mdsmithaustin

Since the statechart sync in #304 (upstream e73df47), the statechart tests resolve TLC and Java through mise. On a macOS host with mise, 18 of the 150 tests fail. The PR 304 verifier reproduced the same 18 failures on upstream's own tree at e73df47 on the same host, so the port did not cause them. CI has no mise, so it skips the 92 TLC-dependent tests, and no environment runs them green.

Causes the verifier found:

  • Rename tests rely on LD_PRELOAD, which macOS ignores.
  • Path comparisons treat /var and /private/var as different.
  • MISE_CEILING_PATHS does not match the symlink-resolved temp folder.

Until this is fixed, tools/gate-check.sh test shows the statechart tier as FAIL on a macOS host with mise. Treat those 18 as pre-existing.

Options:

  1. Report the fixes upstream to cursor/plugins and port them.
  2. Make the test helpers resolve real paths and skip the LD_PRELOAD cases on darwin.
  3. Run the TLC tests in CI with mise and a cached TLC.

Test output is in the PR 304 verdict comment.
