I made CaptionCat while learning English from long YouTube podcasts. There wasn't much to look at, so I put a cat on the captions.
It walks along the words, knocks things off the edge, and falls asleep when a video runs long. Some words make it react: a heart for "cute", a hungry look at "fish".

Works on Chromium 120 and later. The interface is in English and Simplified Chinese.
A pixel tuxedo cat lives on whatever captions YouTube is showing. It strolls along the words, stretches, sneezes, curls up in a box, knocks a cup off the edge and falls asleep when the video runs long. It also reacts to what is said: a heart for "cute", wide eyes for "wow", a hungry look when someone mentions fish. Pick which everyday actions it does and how lively it is, or turn it off. It keeps you company in fullscreen too.
Each caption line sits on its own clean paper card, easy to read over any scene. Your YouTube font and size settings stay as they are. Press Alt + Shift + S to switch back to YouTube's own captions at any time.
Rest your pointer on a caption to see the whole sentence in your own language, with sixteen languages to choose from. The video can pause while you read and carries on when you move away. Off by default; turn it on in settings.
Click a word in English captions to save it together with the sentence it came from, sorted by video. Search your list, copy a ready-made review prompt for your favourite AI tutor, or export everything as JSON. Off by default; turn it on in settings.
No account, no analytics, no tracking. Settings and saved words live in your browser. The only thing that ever leaves your device is the one caption you hover over, sent to Google Translate, and only when hover translation is on. Read the full privacy policy.
