- Battery at a glance. Left, right, and case levels, with charging indicators and a tray percentage.
- A popup when you open the case. A clean battery view that fades away on its own.
- Connects for you. Take an earbud out of the case and Near reconnects your paired AirPods. Choose Disconnect to keep them off until you connect again.
- Automatic pause. Remove an earbud and your music pauses; put it back and it resumes.
- Audio that follows you. Near switches to your speakers when you take your AirPods out, and leaves SteelSeries Sonar and other virtual mixers in charge of their own routes.
- Playback controls. Play, pause, and skip without opening your music app.
- Low battery reminder. A short, silent popup at 10%.
- Quiet while you play or watch. No popups while a full-screen game, video, or presentation is open.
- Light or dark. Follows your Windows theme.
- Ready at startup, if you turn on Start with Windows.
- Download Near, extract the ZIP, and run Near.exe.
- Pair your AirPods with this PC once in Windows Bluetooth settings.
- Click the Near icon beside the clock.
Windows 10 (version 2004 or later) or Windows 11, x64, with Bluetooth LE. Works with AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, and recognizes some Beats, Galaxy Buds, and other headphones that report their battery. AirPods report battery in 10% steps, so Near shows approximate levels.
Near is open source under the MIT license. No account, subscription, telemetry, or cloud service: everything stays on your PC. See third-party notices for library credits.
