R Development Workspace (jjohnson-47)

Centralized R project management with VS Code/Windsurf integration for coursework and research.

  • Open workspace: code r-workspace.code-workspace
  • Create project: ./init-project.sh <name> [analysis|package|shiny|quarto]

Quick Start

  1. Open the workspace in VS Code/Windsurf
code r-workspace.code-workspace
  1. Create a new project
cd /home/verlyn13/Projects/jjohnson-47/R
./init-project.sh my-analysis         # analysis (default)
./init-project.sh my-package package  # package template
  1. Initialize in the project terminal
renv::init()
pak::pak(c("tidyverse", "here"))

VS Code Integration

  • Uses radian as R terminal, httpgd for plots
  • R LSP enabled with diagnostics and session watcher
  • Custom snippets in .vscode/r.snippets

Linting & Style

  • lintr rules: config/R/.lintr.R
  • Helper utilities in config/R/linter_setup.R

Notes

  • template/ remains for compatibility with older scripts
  • templates/ will be populated with canonical templates later
