Credential-free proof for the failure paths that make small API automations unreliable: pagination, transient retries, malformed responses, duplicates, conflicting identifiers, normalization, and resumable state.
The engine receives a transport callable, so every included test runs against deterministic scripted responses. It makes no network requests and contains no credentials.
The bundled CLI processes scripted responses with no network access:
| Input or failure | Result |
|---|---|
| First response is HTTP 429 | Retry within the configured bound |
| Two cursor pages contain A-1, A-2 and A-2, A-3 | Return three unique records |
Nested profile.name fields |
Normalize to the configured name field |
| Completed run | Emit JSON records, audit events, and resumable state |
The engine accepts an injected transport, making failure cases reproducible. The tests cover rate limits, retry exhaustion, authentication failures, malformed JSON, repeated cursors, identifier conflicts, and state round trips. The CLI shows how to compose a source specification and inspect the result.
python -m pip install https://github.com/jblaz6335/api-reliability-kit/releases/download/v0.1.0/api_reliability_kit-0.1.0-py3-none-any.whl
api-reliability-kitThe command prints a deterministic JSON run showing a synthetic HTTP 429 retry, two cursor pages, exact-duplicate suppression, normalized records, and resumable state.
PyPI publication is pending. After the package appears at pypi.org/project/api-reliability-kit, the shorter python -m pip install api-reliability-kit command will also work.
python -m unittest discover -s tests -v
python -m api_reliability.cliThe CLI executes two synthetic cursor pages, retries a synthetic rate limit, suppresses one exact duplicate, and prints a JSON snapshot.
This proves only the included provider-neutral engine and scripted scenarios. It is not a live API connector, scheduler, database, proxy, scraper, OAuth client, hosted service, security audit, compliance assessment, throughput benchmark, or production deployment. A real adapter must follow the selected provider's current official documentation, terms, authentication flow, limits, and data rules.
