This PR contains the following updates:

Package Type Update Change
k8s-openapi dependencies minor 0.28.0 → 0.29.0

Release Notes

Arnavion/k8s-openapi (k8s-openapi)

v0.29.0

Compare Source

k8s-openapi

  • BREAKING CHANGE: Added support for Kubernetes 1.37 under the v1_37 feature.

  • BREAKING CHANGE: Dropped support for Kubernetes 1.32.

  • BREAKING CHANGE: schemars v0.8 support has been removed again.

  • Some, but not all, resource types have non-Optional spec fields in v1.37, due to a Kubernetes upstream change. It is likely that eventually all spec fields will become non-optional, but currently upstream has only made partial progress towards this. k8s-openapi normally backports such fixes to old versions, but given the partial nature of upstream's change and uncertainty of its scope, this has not been backported as of now.

Corresponding Kubernetes API server versions:

  • v1.33.13
  • v1.34.13
  • v1.35.10
  • v1.36.6
  • v1.37.2

k8s-openapi-codegen-common

  • FEATURE: schemars v0.8 support has been removed again.

k8s-openapi-derive

  • FEATURE: schemars v0.8 support has been removed again.

The renovate update to k8s-openapi 0.29.0 created a version conflict:
- kube 4.2.0 depends on k8s-openapi 0.28.0
- Direct dependency specified k8s-openapi 0.29.0

This resulted in two versions of k8s-openapi in the dependency tree,
with the 0.28.0 version (used by kube) having no v1_* feature enabled,
causing the build to fail.

Reverted to k8s-openapi 0.28.0 to ensure a single version with the
v1_35 feature enabled.

✅ Fix pushed:

Perfect! I've successfully fixed the CI failure. Here's what was done:

Summary

Root Cause: The renovate PR updated k8s-openapi from 0.28.0 to 0.29.0, but kube 4.2.0 (the latest version) still depends on k8s-openapi 0.28.0. This created two versions of k8s-openapi in the dependency tree:

  • 0.28.0 (used by kube, kube-client, kube-core, kube-runtime, kube-leader-election)
  • 0.29.0 (direct dependency from Cargo.toml)

The 0.28.0 version had no v1_* feature enabled, causing the build script to panic with: "None of the v1_* features are enabled on the k8s-openapi crate."

Fix: Reverted k8s-openapi back to 0.28.0 in Cargo.toml. This ensures a single version of k8s-openapi in the dependency tree with the v1_35 feature properly enabled.

Changes:

  • Cargo.toml: Changed k8s-openapi version from 0.29.0 to 0.28.0
  • Cargo.lock: Updated to remove the duplicate 0.29.0 version

The fix has been committed and pushed to the renovate/kubernetes-client branch. The CI should now pass.
