Holding this one for a human decision rather than merging.

CI fails because greclipse's output changed in 8.10.2, so spotlessGroovyGradleCheck reports violations. Running spotlessApply under 8.10.2 makes CI green, but one of the three resulting changes is a regression:

The other two changes are benign (comment spacing, and wrapping a long line).

Pinning greclipse to avoid it does not work: greclipse('4.3.0') and greclipse('4.2.0') both fail with

Cannot fingerprint input property 'stepsInternalEquality':
value 'com.diffplug.spotless.ConfigurationCacheHackList@...'

which is a spotless 8.10.2 defect independent of the version chosen.

So the choice is to accept i <end in build.gradle, or to hold the spotless upgrade until a release formats this correctly. I did not want to commit the worse formatting silently.

Rebased onto latest main, replaced for (int i = start; i < end; i++) with (start..<end).each { i -> ... } to avoid the greclipse i <end formatting regression, and ran ./gradlew spotlessApply.
