Use template parameter objects for class-type NTTPs in signatures [GH #414] - #422
In C++20, a non-type template parameter of class type denotes a template parameter object, which is a const lvalue. When template arguments were substituted into a function template signature (by rescanning the IL expressions), such a parameter was replaced by a const prvalue copy of the argument value instead. As a result:
decltype((V)) yielded A rather than const A&, leading to a spurious "template instantiation resulted in unexpected function type" error;
member accesses such as decltype((V.i)) had the wrong value category;
&V caused substitution to fail (e.g., in a trailing return type or a requires-clause).
structA { int i = 0; };
template <A V> voidf(decltype((V)) v) { }
template <A V> autog() -> decltype(&V);
template <A V> autoh() -> decltype((V.i));
voiduse() {
constexpr A a;
f<a>(a); // Previously: unexpected function type
g<a>(); // Previously: no instance of g matches
h<a>(); // Previously: unexpected function type
}
Changes
make_rescan_operand_full (src/exprutil.c) now turns a substituted class-type template parameter into an lvalue designating the template parameter object, the same object a reference in the instantiated function body designates. The const added by substitution is removed first so the object lookup matches. It also restores the id-expression details saved on the original reference, so decltype applies the right rule for V vs. (V).
make_template_param_object_operand gets a copy_constant parameter. When a new object is created from a local constant, its value is a full copy (including subconstants) in file-scope memory. A shallow copy would share subconstants with the template argument value, which caused an assertion failure during IL lowering for classes with array or class members:
structA { int x[3]; };
template <const A*> structP {};
template <A V> autof() -> P<&V>;
using R = decltype(f<A{{1,2,3}}>());
This fixes the problem at the point of substitution, so it applies to every expression context, not just to a decltype whose whole operand is the parameter.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved C++20 handling of class-type non-type template parameters in function-template signatures. Their const lvalue behavior is now preserved in decltype, member access, and address-taking expressions.
Fixed handling of aggregate arguments and template parameter objects, including nested aggregates.

Walkthrough
Rescan now creates template-parameter object operands when class-type non-type template parameters are substituted with aggregate arguments. Regression tests cover their types, values, and identity. Imported diagnostic baselines and the changelog are updated.
Rescan recognizes substituted class-type template parameters and creates template-parameter object operands. The helper copies local constants when needed, while the symbol-constant path retains the existing constant. Rescan also restores identifier-related operand details.
The C++20 regression test checks parameter-object types, values, addresses, constraints, and nested aggregates. Fixture commands are added. Imported diagnostic baselines remove the reported constraint failure and reduce expected error counts by one. The changelog describes the fix.
A partial rescan may still cause valid template code to be rejected. The remaining case warrants owner awareness.

Explanation
The title names the main change: class-type non-type template parameters in signatures now use template parameter objects, and it references issue GH #414. The raw summary confirms substitution now yields an lvalue designating the template parameter object, which matches the title. The title is specific and concise, and the 75-character length is acceptable.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue #414 requires class-type NTTPs in function-template signatures to behave as const lvalues that designate template parameter objects. The source change in src/exprutil.c creates an lvalue template parameter object during rescanning, removes the substitution-added const before lookup, and restores id-expression details for decltype. The regression test tests/tests/regressions/gh-414.sft.cpp checks decltype((V)) as const A&, decltype((V.i)) as const int&, &V as const A*, address identity with the function body, constraints, dependent parameters, and member templates. The test also covers full copying of subaggregates. These changes satisfy the coding requirements from #414. The test was not executed in this assessment.

Explanation
The source changes in src/exprutil.c, the gh-414 regression test and fixtures, the related expected-output updates, and the change note all support issue #414. The expected-output updates remove diagnostics caused by the corrected class-type NTTP substitution. No unrelated change is demonstrated by the supplied whole-PR summary or the inspected source and test paths.

Preserve the object operand across a second rescan.
When partial substitution retains rescan information, a later deduction rescan can process the synthesized template-parameter object. Because break_constant_source_corresp(cp) removes the initializer's symbol association, make_operand_for_rescanned_identifier takes its make_constant_operand fallback instead of preserving the object lvalue. This can make &V fail.
Update make_operand_for_rescanned_identifier to preserve the variable operand for var->is_template_param_object when the initializer has no constant symbol.

@daveedvdv-nvidia Understood. Thanks for clarifying that this bug predates #422. Handling it in a separate issue makes sense; I won’t press for a fix in this PR.
