Summary

Make the browser chrome more transparent and apply the saved appearance before a window first becomes visible. Cold launches previously showed an opaque gray window before the restored Space theme appeared.

Changes

  • Reduce the shared chrome overlays and use thin native material for the unthemed command bar and tab switcher. Keep the existing accessibility and transparency-setting fallbacks.
  • Apply the saved light/dark appearance before scene creation, then reveal each window after its restored content and native backdrop have laid out. Disable the initial appearance animation while preserving later transitions.
  • Give folder icons taller front panels and recenter their symbols, preserving sidebar row sizes and opening animations.
  • Set MARKETING_VERSION to 0.1.7.
  • Add the current browser screenshot to the README, stored under Branding/Screenshots outside the app resources.

Testing

On macOS 27.2 with Xcode 27.2:

  • swift test --no-parallel: all 923 package tests passed (429 Core, 231 WebKit, 263 application).
  • Debug xcodebuild build-for-testing and Release xcodebuild build: succeeded; both app bundles report version 0.1.7.
  • Windowless startup regressions cover saved light/dark appearance, layout readiness, cancellation, window attachment, and visible/auto-hidden sidebar controls. The appearance regression fails with the previous reset behavior and passes with the fix.
  • Checked before/after folder artwork in open/closed states and light/dark appearances using offscreen SwiftUI renders.
  • Native UI tests were compiled only; execution remains on CI.
  • git diff --check and README image references passed.
