fix2 (9ffcbe1) keeps the fakelib session across suspend and detaches owned USB aliases. This adds the part that is still missing on top of it:

  • ext-storage (/mnt/extN) and disc (/mnt/disc) aliases in the same detach/reconcile pass
  • a bounded, storage-only retry when restore fails
  • pid/title validation before touching a session; terminated pid 0 and unbound pre-spawn sessions still clean up

Testing: builds clean; two independent reviews, no blocking findings. On FW 13.60, exact build 282918b0, an exFAT image game survived a 4 h 22 m rest with the same process and no remount or EDEADLK. Not covered: a removable volume attached during rest, and the failure-injection cases.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Storage suspension and resumption now cover USB, extended-storage, and disc storage.
    • Storage access is validated against the active session to help prevent mismatched sessions from affecting mounted storage.
    • Storage is automatically reconciled after suspension changes and explicit refreshes.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved recovery when storage reconciliation is temporarily unsuccessful through deferred retries.
    • Better handling of stale sleep states, incomplete retained sessions, and invalid storage aliases.

📝 Walkthrough

The change expands storage suspension from USB aliases to USB, extended-storage, and disc aliases. It adds PID and title ownership checks, shared storage-root reconciliation, and bounded retries for failed refreshes.

Changes: Storage lifecycle

Layer / File(s) Summary
Reconcile storage roots
src/sm_fakelib.c
Storage reconciliation now covers eight USB roots, two external roots, and /mnt/disc. Initial sandbox mounting uses the shared reconciliation helper.
Schedule storage refresh retries
src/sm_fakelib.c
Failed refreshes can be retried up to six times. The cleanup poll processes due retries, and explicit refreshes use the shared reconciliation path.
Suspend and resume storage
include/sm_fakelib.h, src/sm_fakelib.c, src/sm_game_lifecycle.c
The suspension API accepts suspension state, PID, and title. It validates session ownership, removes owned removable-storage aliases on suspension, and reconciles roots on resume. Lifecycle calls pass available session details.

Extend the suspend alias handling introduced in 9ffcbe1 to every removable sandbox alias, not only USB roots, and restore them all on resume. The suspend call validates the retained session owner before touching aliases; a terminated game (PID 0) and an unbound pre-spawn session still release their owned aliases, while a different bound owner is left untouched. Resume snapshots the current active PID and title after draining handoff events, so a process handoff does not leave aliases detached. A failed restore is retried by the lifecycle watcher with a bounded, storage-only retry; resume, the timer retry and filesystem refreshes share one reconciliation path that clears the retry state on success.

Checked fix2 — it has 9ffcbe1, so the retention and the /data match are covered. #172 is closed and this is rebased onto it. What's left on top: ext/disc aliases (9ffcbe1 detaches USB only), a bounded restore retry, and pid/title validation before touching a session. If that's out of scope, say so and I'll close it.

Keep the EBUSY check on resume, but update its comment.

reconcile_storage_roots_locked() returns true without reconciling when mounts_ready is false. This EBUSY therefore reports an incomplete retained session, not a successful reconciliation. The public contract requires this state to return false. The suspend caller uses that result to skip USB source cleanup, while the resume caller ignores it. Guarding the check with suspended would make resume report success for an incomplete session.

Suggested comment update
- // Exit or rollback can leave a busy core layer after removing every USB alias.
- // Its retained dependencies must still block USB source cleanup.
+ // Cleanup or rollback can leave an active session incomplete after removing
+ // removable aliases. Report this state for both phases; on suspend, the
+ // result must still block USB source cleanup.
