Vitest 5 no longer reads custom matcher types from the global `jest.Matchers` interface, which is all the root `@testing-library/jest-dom` types augment. Its `/vitest` entry point augments Vitest's `Assertion` directly, as the Vitest migration guide recommends. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <[email protected]>

Vitest 5 no longer reads custom matcher types from the global
jest.Matchersinterface (migration guide). Ourtsconfig.jsonloaded the root@testing-library/jest-domtypes, which only add to that interface, so every jest-dom matcher (toBeInTheDocument,toHaveAttribute, …) failed type checking. The tests themselves still ran fine.tsconfig.jsonnow loads@testing-library/jest-dom/vitest, jest-dom's Vitest entry point, as a Vitest maintainer suggested intypecheck: Custom DOM matchers (toHaveTextContent,toHaveAttribute) missing fromAssertiontypes in v5.0.0 vitest-dev/vitest#11233.@types/jestis removed. Only the root jest-dom types used it.Known issue
Until testing-library/jest-dom#742 is released, jest-dom's matchers declare the element as their return type instead of
void(or aPromiseforexpect.poll). It only matters when code uses a matcher's return value, which ours doesn't.Bumps vitest from 4.1.11 to 5.0.3.
