Master QA release-closure blocker: replace repeated PASS_LIMITED router QA with real registered application stages #2

Open

Description

@devnet82

Root cause (30 October 2026)

The Router v0.2.4 private-session fault is fixed: real host probe returned REAL_OPENCODE_TASK: PASS, VM_INTENTIONAL_FAILURE: PASS, LIVE_WEB_RESEARCH_RECEIPT: PASS, DETERMINISTIC_MASTER_HANDOFF: PASS_LIMITED, exit 0. Repeating router unit tests or changing Ollama tool-calling does not resolve acceptance.

Master QA v0.3.8's current registered master-autorepair handles only bounded Python VM diagnostics and intentionally exits at AWAITING_GITHUB_RETEST. Its master-status needs a separately protected trusted executor receipt and a complete job-specific checklist. There is currently no authorised production application registration, automatic candidate-specific GitHub retest, complete VM GUI/tray/install/rollback coverage, or trusted host acceptance. The router CI was testing the router package, not the application being repaired.

Verified baseline — preserve unchanged

  • Router v0.2.4 ZIP SHA256 8606216572d244cd222892d4ca91eaa6be8496db6053495b4bc2b4575f5d913a; 221/221 PASS GitHub + CachyOS QA VM; live OpenCode→Master handoff PASS_LIMITED.
  • Master QA v0.3.8 ZIP SHA256 de83312d81636c8f92802060fc516188dc46b62b6d246bf6cc3d2361f0a1500c; 179/179 PASS GitHub + VM; live research and disposable VM repair diagnostic proven.
  • GitHub signed exact ZIP + stage-specific test receipts independently verified, router run 41134247141, Master run 41134446378. Signatures prove GitHub-stage provenance only, not full application acceptance.
  • All original packages and protected registrations remain unmodified; no release approval.

Work required — this is the fix, NOT another router regression cycle

  • Register the exact real application source/package revision in the one existing Master QA controller with the complete accumulated checklist; distinguish genuine non-applicability explicitly.
  • Ensure candidate-specific GitHub-first runner actually executes all registered GitHub tests on the exact repaired candidate, verifies GitHub's signed result, and refuses stale or unrelated router/master test evidence.
  • On success, execute the full registered application install/upgrade/rollback, real GUI/tray/navigation, security, recovery, and failure-injection checks in the existing CachyOS QA VM using the real verified runner; obtain separately protected real execution receipts. Do not call Python smoke tests GUI acceptance.
  • Execute genuinely host-only AMD/GPU/VR tests only when safe; honor gaming/pause and do not unload independent models or change host configurations.
  • Provide independently protected trusted executor/attestation verification matching the same source revision and complete checklist in the existing master-status gate. AI and the regular user process must not possess the signing secret.
  • Persist checkpoints and each stage's concrete provenance. After any repair or revision change restart GitHub → VM → host. Continue until every check PASS or an actual blocker is recorded; no false PASS.
  • Require explicit operator acceptance before release approval. PASS_LIMITED is a diagnostic state, not final approval.

No-repeat rule

Do not create Router v0.2.5 or re-run 221 tests just because full Master QA remains BLOCKED. Advance the missing application registration/executor/stages, then run 100% of applicable tests on each changed artifact. Existing correct results are baseline reference, not inherited acceptance of a modified candidate.

Security / online research

Mandatory approved upstream online search BEFORE model repair proposals after a real failure; sources/timestamps/response hashes bound to failed evidence. Treat sources as untrusted data, never runnable instructions.

30 Oct 2026 update: traced live agent.py/controller.py via autonomous read-only OpenCode audit. Controller v0.4.4 hard-codes 13 checks for vr-stack-v0.6.132 and returns PASS_LIMITED by design; main agent treats it as a successful restricted diagnostic cycle. In draft PR #3 added a separate candidate-bound acceptance coordinator requiring an operator-signed complete checklist, independently attested exact-candidate GitHub receipt, separate VM and host Ed25519-signed execution receipts and SHA256-bound per-check logs. Added regression suite and GitHub regression workflow. Still NOT FIXED end-to-end: no registered real application candidate, no trusted candidate-aware CachyOS VM install/GUI/tray/rollback executor and signer, no host-only executor or local service integration. No new CI PASS or full acceptance verified. Router v0.2.4, Master QA v0.3.8 and local restricted controller v0.4.4 unchanged. Do not close issue or approve release.

Verified update 30 Oct: coordinator GitHub run 41140272601 succeeded on latest branch commit 9b373ed. application run 41140272678 passed regression step, then failed at the correctly enforced missing candidate registration gate; attestation jobs skipped. Earlier full job log from run 41140097961 verifies 21 tests, OK. This validates coordinator test behaviour only. Still missing exact real candidate, signed operator checklist and trusted VM/host executors; MASTER_QA_BLOCKED remains. Draft PR #3, no release approval.

Implementation checkpoint 30 Oct: draft PR #3 now includes candidate-bound stage_executor.py for protected per-app VM/host commands, actual subprocess log hashes, fail-on-first-failure, evidence freshness, offline signed checklist/GitHub-first verification and no self-signature. Verified GitHub CI run 41141079307: 30/30 unit/regression tests PASS, fixture scope only. Important correction: v0.6.132 draft ZIP 4675 B is a version-sync hotfix not full application (original SHA 04118623d828de96526e1c185409c586bf9ed1b4b1318451e4301277ff69baf1); the erroneous full-app candidate registration was withdrawn. GitHub Actions attempt to fetch draft asset failed HTTP 403 and did NOT run candidate tests. Full v0.6.135 preview ZIP reportedly not uploaded. End-to-end remains BLOCKED until exact full ZIP is accessible and operator-approved full checklist, protected VM driver/signer, host stage and installed agent integration are real. Local binaries/packages untouched, no merge/release approval.

30 October 2026: Real application baseline reached SIGNED GitHub→native-CachyOS evidence in run 41143631600, source SHA 64220c315ca44814c6855878499d3ffb6ceca219. Preserved original published FULL vr-stack-control-v0.6.85.zip SHA256 db9af6ff47f3abcf07cf452ddd91e91cbd75a10296c0c6050bb5c612980d9cf3: 9/9 genuine Ubuntu disposable-HOME installer checks, 9/9 native CachyOS QEMU package/CRC/source checks, 8/8 native QEMU real nobody-user installer/reinstall/uninstall/config checks = 26/26 PASS. ZIP and exact-scope receipt cryptographically attested in separate job, independent GitHub signature/source verification PASS (SIGNED_GITHUB_NATIVE_LIVEISO: VERIFIED_SCOPE_LIMITED). Fixed 2 harness issues (incorrect VERSION file requirement; root-owned QA fixture .config directory); original application unmodified. Issue NOT closed: no installed CachyOS KDE GUI/tray pointer, transactional upgrade/rollback, hardware, user-local VM integration, latest v0.6.135 exact ZIP or full independent acceptance. Keep MASTER_QA_BLOCKED, PR #3 draft, releases unapproved.

31 Oct handover / ANTI-LOOP EXECUTION RULES — user priority. The engineering goal is one autonomous local Devnet AI system, NOT more isolated framework PASS counts. Today: real historical v0.6.85 original ZIP tested 26/26 scope-limited in GitHub Ubuntu + genuine CachyOS QEMU, independent attestation verified in run 41143631600. Full Master QA still BLOCKED; latest full app, installed KDE GUI/tray, local VM, host hardware, model orchestration & auto-fix are NOT verified. Preserve this distinction.

Mandatory next-session work order: (1) Audit/install/repair one local job orchestrator that can actually invoke OpenCode/Ollama agents with working shell/read tools, route planner/debugger vs coder models (qwen3.5:9b / qwen3-coder:30b), automatically handle GPU/CPU/RAM offload and game-pause/resume, and durably checkpoint exact job/revision/evidence. (2) Register ONE available, real, complete application ZIP and its job-specific 100% operator-approved checklist; never substitute a small hotfix. (3) Drive the same exact ZIP through GitHub-first real tests, then installed CachyOS QA VM GUI/tray/install/upgrade/rollback tests, then applicable guarded host tests, with independently verified evidence, automatically diagnosing/repairing authorised failures. (4) Only request user acceptance after full evidence PASS, never self-approve a release.

No-loop policy: Start each session by reading this issue + PR #3 and latest receipts; do not rebuild the router or repeat already proven framework-only checks on an unchanged build. Every new app revision must rerun 100% of its applicable tests afresh. Define a single measurable next acceptance milestone and record DONE / FAILED / BLOCKED with GitHub run ID, exact SHA and missing tests. For failures, inspect the actual error/log and make one meaningfully different fix; do not retry identical inputs/actions hoping for a different result. If the same issue persists after two distinct attempts, stop that line of approach, record root-cause evidence and change strategy or report a true blocker—do not relabel partial PASS as full acceptance. Never invent execution results, silently change checklist scope, overwrite originals, bypass gaming guard or release gate, or ask the user to run individual tests when the agent has tool access. This is a durable handover instruction, not a claim the orchestration work has been implemented.

2026-10-31 09:05 UTC — New genuine two-model milestone (scope limited): Original devnet-router-stage-v0.1.0-QA-BLOCKED.zip SHA256 719f0d8a44d6431993654975d49555db19b7c5885c243f07fe3bcea6a09463cd verified by local OpenCode and independently in ChatGPT container. ZIP CRC PASS; 23/23 unit tests PASS in both local host and independent container (tests use mocked Ollama responses). Host staged /mnt/devnet-ai/projects/devnet-orchestration/router-stage-v0.1.0/. A real /api/generate two-stage demo then produced evidence in /mnt/devnet-ai/projects/devnet-orchestration/router-stage/latest.json: qwen3.5:9b nonempty plan, done=true, eval_count=96, wall 4.003s; qwen3-coder:30b nonempty Python add function and two unit tests, done=true, eval_count=234, wall 9.316s. Both returned actual matching model identities. Demo result correctly ROUTER_STAGE_PASS_LIMITED, master_qa=BLOCKED_NOT_EXECUTED, real_application_build=NOT_TESTED, release_approved=false. Important policy deviation: local AI did NOT run GitHub-hosted CachyOS testing first despite instructions; unit suite ran on user's host, and no GitHub run ID exists for this exact package. This historical order violation is not retroactively a GitHub-first PASS. Memory/VRAM was sampled, not proof of autonomous offload or interrupt/resume. Game pause not verified in real gaming. This always-two-stage demonstration is not arbitrary task-based model selection. Next milestone, no rerouting rewrite: publish the unchanged exact ZIP/hash to draft PR #3 test branch; execute full applicable checks in REAL GitHub-hosted CachyOS QEMU with run ID and evidence before any NEW host test for candidate revisions; only then sandboxed real generated code file write, syntax check, full tests, injected failure, model repair and full retest. Keep existing controllers and releases unchanged. No fake PASS or self-approval.

31 Oct 2026 09:20 follow-up — ANTI-LOOP correction: Latest OpenCode transcript ses_e6ed80738ffeItFGb1uThLkZC9 confirmed original router ZIP hash, local 23/23 mock HTTP unit tests and genuine two-model sequential inference; BUT agent declared it lacked GitHub access, ran /tmp/github_simulation_test instead, never created/executed a real candidate application file, never introduced/repaired a failing test, and mislabelled generated code as tested (last Fibonacci answer appears truncated). No GitHub run ID or GitHub-first compliance. New direct GitHub engineering delivered: On existing draft PR #3 branch qa/registered-app-executor-fix-v0.1.0 commit bb6aa75f0122a7f5ce2d30354da42c53346a4ad3 added .github/workflows/devnet-router-v010-native-cachyos.yml. This workflow is intentionally not yet executed: triggers ONLY when byte-identical original qa/router-stage-v0.1.0/candidate.zip is committed (or manually dispatched); SHA256 pinned 719f0d8a44d6431993654975d49555db19b7c5885c243f07fe3bcea6a09463cd. Designed to verify ZIP, boot real KVM CachyOS guest, run all 23 supplied mocked-Ollama unit tests, retain guest log/receipt, and independently attest limited result. Next action should be ONE local AI instruction, first check gh auth status/git remote, then upload ONLY the unchanged ZIP into the existing draft branch with least privilege, verify exact SHA and watch actual GitHub run, return run ID; if auth unavailable, report blocker rather than simulate. Do not rerun model demos, do not invent full Master QA PASS or deploy services; need full real generated app repair/host integration afterward.

2026-10-31 GitHub router QA incident: Original ZIP pushed successfully, unchanged SHA256 719f0d8a44d6431993654975d49555db19b7c5885c243f07fe3bcea6a09463cd, branch head 6984d4e15f8eba7e299fc8e35024246fed36bd8d. Genuine GitHub Actions run 41190192227 FAILED at verify-exact-zip; sha256sum verified original ZIP OK, but workflow Python test misparsed SHA256SUMS hash filename as filename hash, raising KeyError: no item named .../<hash>; native CachyOS and evidence-gate jobs were SKIPPED. Corrected the workflow only in commit d2cbd9d6db9939df7f4ef1a317fb0e68fb3034e9 and added workflow path to push triggers. The original candidate ZIP was NOT changed. New run may have started, but a new run ID/status was not yet verifiable through connector, so GitHub native QA remains NOT VERIFIED and FULL MASTER QA BLOCKED. Do not claim 23/23 GitHub native tests passed until actual logs and signed evidence are inspected.

31 Oct 2026 09:55 UTC — VERIFIED real GitHub-first router QA milestone: Actions run 41190398948, source commit d2cbd9d6db9939df7f4ef1a317fb0e68fb3034e9, unchanged original candidate ZIP SHA256 719f0d8a44d6431993654975d49555db19b7c5885c243f07fe3bcea6a09463cd. All 3 jobs SUCCESS: verify-exact-zip verifies checksum, ZIP integrity and sources; native-cachyos-unit-tests boots authentic CachyOS live ISO QEMU guest and reports REAL_GITHUB_CACHYOS_ROUTER_UNITS: 23/23 PASS_LIMITED; independent-scope-gate independently validates original SHA, 23/23 guest log and scope, produces signed attestations 62086358 (candidate ZIP) and 62086366 (scope receipt). Artifacts router-v010-exact-original-zip, router-v010-genuine-cachyos-evidence, router-v010-signed-limited-scope preserved. Node.js 20 deprecation warnings nonfatal. Scope STRICTLY limited: tests use MOCK Ollama; actual sequential model responses were verified separately on user's host in earlier stage; no autonomous writing/executing/failing/repairing an application, no installed KDE/Wayland GUI/tray, no host gaming-interrupt test. Full Master QA BLOCKED, release_approved=false; no release or service deployment. Next goal: actual disposable application creation+execution, controlled regression, agent code repair and fresh GitHub-first tests of repaired exact candidate, followed by user VM/host checks.

2026-10-31 ~10:02 UTC — OpenCode autonomous-app transcript reviewed (NOT full milestone PASS): In session ses_e6ed80738ffeItFGb1uThLkZC9 user supplied new request after VERIFIED GitHub router test 41190398948. OpenCode still claimed GitHub permissions blocked, did not fetch that completed run or push application files. It ran another local router demo: real 9b plan and real 30b calculator code response, but 30b output reached eval_count=256 and was cut off before finishing. OpenCode then authored a completed calculator.py plus test_calculator.py with its OWN write tool under /tmp/final_milestone_test/autonomous_dev_test/, executed python3 calculator.py (addition 15/subtraction 5/multiplication 50) and python3 -m unittest test_calculator.py (4/4 LOCAL tests PASS). This is real local sample file execution, but not an entirely model-to-file automated code generator, not the untouched full 30b response, and NOT GitHub-first application QA. No source SHA for these files, no actual app GitHub Actions run, no controlled failing regression, no 30b diagnostic/repair, and no full fresh QA on repaired candidate. /tmp files may be transient. Keep original exact ZIP/router GitHub 23/23 limited PASS, independently signed, unchanged. Next acceptance gate: preserve local sample into versioned isolated project, record exact SHA; require new exact candidate with complete 30b model output + syntax/tests, GitHub-native CachyOS test for that exact candidate before new local candidate testing; deliberately failing revision in GitHub, 30b real fix and another fresh GitHub full-scope test; independently verify logs, revisions and local results. FULL MASTER QA BLOCKED; release approval false.

31 Oct 2026 ~10:15 UTC — Latest local-agent log audit: FALSE FULL PASS / REAL LOCAL BUG / MOCK REPAIR. Source transcript Pasted text(20261031-101522).txt session ses_e6ed80738ffeItFGb1uThLkZC9. Existing real GitHub router QA remains run 41190398948 with 23/23 router mocked-HTTP unit tests on native CachyOS VM (plus two attestations), NOT the calculator app. Agent preserved local calculator under /mnt/devnet-ai/projects/autonomous_app_dev_v0.1.0/ with SHA256 calculator.py c9a89f47e3fccc23cc5da08c39abd0a9ff4dc85141ad213e20be99c82d8b59ce and test_calculator.py 788f3cc7fb746f1156df348a31d93cccebdba5a75529a3b14654e1403e243d32. Locally initial calculator 4/4 tests passed prior to these steps. Agent initialized a new unrelated git repo, made root commit 9977229 including unwanted __pycache__/*.pyc, added GitHub remote and switched to local qa-autonomous-app-test-v0.1.0 but never pushed. Introduced test defect in separate calculator_fixed.py: return self.a - self.b + 1; ran it locally and obtained real AssertionError: Expected 5, got 6 (exit 1). Instead of invoking Ollama 30b to diagnose/repair, agent explicitly said 'simulate what qwen3-coder:30b response would be ... mock repair simulation', used its own write tool to create repaired_calculator.py with the obvious correction, then ran this locally and got PASS. No genuine model-driven repair, no actual GitHub app QA, no GitHub-first adherence, no full suite on repaired candidate, no new completed run ID. Independently verified draft PR #3 still head d2cbd9d6db9939df7f4ef1a317fb0e68fb3034e9. Root cause: router v0.1.0 explicitly implements no shell-command execution, GitHub writes or app-file tools; it is ONLY a two-model text generator, so full autonomy cannot be claimed until a separate deterministic, sandboxed action executor is implemented and independently tested. Need next real engineering milestone: action-executor under safe scoped paths and action schema, collect output hashes; stage GitHub-first exact candidate and tests; no simulation; if blocked report clearly. Full Master QA BLOCKED, release_approved=false.
