Aspiring SOC Analyst · Networking & Security Learner · Python Developer
Working toward a career as a SOC Analyst, building my foundation in the open — networking, security fundamentals, and hands-on practice — and documenting the process daily rather than treating it as a private study log.
I come from a Python web development background (Flask/Django), which gives me a practical, developer's-eye understanding of how applications are built — and therefore how they can be attacked or defended. I practice Linux daily, use Wireshark for packet analysis, and I'm currently working through CCNA prep and the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, having completed TryHackMe's Pre Security and Cybersecurity 101 paths
- Grew a public LinkedIn learning presence from 100 to 500+ connections in about two months through daily, documented progress posts
- Completed TryHackMe's Pre Security and Cybersecurity 101 paths
- Completed 4 of 6 courses toward the Google Cybersecurity Professional Certificate, including Play It Safe: Manage Security Risks (security domains, Risk Management Framework, NIST CSF, OWASP principles, SIEM basics, incident response playbooks)
- Completed Cisco's Introduction to Cybersecurity
- Designing and working through CCNA labs (VLANs, trunking, 802.1Q, Router-on-a-Stick, SVIs) via a structured, self-built curriculum — attempting each lab independently before checking solutions
- Built a full three-building campus network in Cisco Packet Tracer (2 routers, 4 switches, 6 VLANs, DHCP, DNS, RIPv2, SSH and port security), documented end-to-end on GitHub
- Built a SOC log parser & threat intel tool in Python — parses SSH auth logs, flags brute-force attempts by threshold, and cross-checks attacker IPs against AbuseIPDB
- Building a Python CLI network scanner (menu-driven scan types, open-port filtering, timestamped result logging) as a hands-on security-tooling project
| Project | Description |
|---|---|
| SOC Log Parser & Threat Intel Tool | Python tool that parses SSH auth logs via journalctl, flags brute-force login attempts by threshold, cross-checks attacker IPs against AbuseIPDB, and generates timestamped reports |
| CCNA Packet Tracer Labs | Structured CCNA lab work — VLANs, trunking, ROAS, routing, SSH/port security — documented as I go |
| University Campus Network | Three-building hierarchical network design in Packet Tracer with VLANs, DHCP, DNS, RIPv2, and security hardening |
| Network Recon Scanner | Python CLI tool for menu-driven network scanning, open-port filtering, and timestamped result logging |
| Online Book Store | Full-stack store with admin analytics and a review system |
