Safety Warning: This driver is a proof of concept for educational purposes. It is not intended for use in mission-critical environments, such as server rooms, medical storage, or primary residential heating/cooling where equipment failure could lead to property damage or personal injury. Users should always maintain the ability to control their HVAC system through official Daikin hardware or apps.

For a simplified setup, use the provided Makefile:
make setupOr manually follow these steps:
-
Create a Channel:
smartthings edge:channels:create
-
Enroll Your Hub:
smartthings edge:channels:enroll
-
Assign the Driver to the Channel:
smartthings edge:channels:assign
-
Install the Driver on Your Hub:
smartthings edge:drivers:install
To see what the driver is doing in real-time:
make logcatOr manually:
smartthings edge:drivers:logcatA Makefile is provided for common development tasks:
make setup: Run the full onboarding flow (First time).make test: Run Lua unit tests.make package: Package the driver.make create-channel: Create a new channel (interactive).make enroll-channel: Enroll hub in channel (interactive).make assign-driver: Assign driver to channel (interactive).make install: Install the driver to the hub.make logcat: Access live logs.
make testOnce the driver is installed on your hub:
- Open the SmartThings App.
- Go to the Location where the Hub is installed.
- Select Add (+) and then Device.
- Tap on "Scan nearby".
- Check the logs in your
logcatsession to verify discovery. - The device should appear in your SmartThings app.
1. What are the essential verification steps before installing?
- Network: Ensure your SmartThings Hub and Daikin Airbase are on the same network (preferably 2.4GHz).
- Official App: Verify the unit works correctly with the official Daikin Airbase app.
- Connectivity Test: Find your unit's IP address and run this command from a computer on the same network:
A successful response confirms the unit is reachable and compatible with the
curl "http://<YOUR_UNIT_IP>/skyfi/common/basic_info"skyfiAPI.
2. I get a "no driver found" error during CLI installation. What's wrong?
- Directory Context: Ensure you are running commands from the root directory of this project, not a system folder.
- Missing Package: You must package the driver before assigning it. Run
make packageor:smartthings edge:drivers:package .
3. I assigned the driver but it still won't install.
The CLI might be using a different default channel. Force the correct channel by setting the default:
- Set the default channel:
smartthings config:default channel <your-channel-uuid>
- Re-assign the driver:
smartthings edge:channels:assign
4. Why are the temperature readings confusing?
The Daikin Airbase reports several temperatures:
- Set Temperature: What you see on the thermostat display.
- Indoor/Outdoor Sensors: These are internal to the Daikin hardware and can be slow to update or less accurate than dedicated SmartThings sensors. For precise automation, we recommend using a separate temperature sensor.
