Personal Homepage & CV

A single-page academic/engineering homepage built with Jekyll, styled after limanling.github.io. It shows your bio, your research/study areas, publications, and awards. It runs on GitHub Pages with no custom plugins — just push and it builds.

Edit your content

Almost everything lives in two places:

What Where
Name, role, affiliation, bio, photo, social links, CV link _config.yml (the author: block)
Nav bar items _data/navigation.yml
Research / study areas _data/research.yml
Publications _data/publications.yml
Awards & honors _data/awards.yml

Add your photo at assets/images/profile.jpg, then set author.photo: /assets/images/profile.jpg in _config.yml. Optionally drop a PDF at assets/cv.pdf.

Note: after editing _config.yml you must restart jekyll serve for changes to show. Data files (_data/*.yml) reload automatically.

Preview locally

bundle install # first time only
bundle exec jekyll serve
# open http://localhost:4000

Deploy to GitHub Pages

  1. Create a repo named <your-username>.github.io (for a root-level site) and push this code to it.
  2. In the repo: Settings → Pages → Build and deployment → Source: "Deploy from a branch", branch main (or master), folder / (root).
  3. Wait ~1 minute, then visit https://<your-username>.github.io.

If instead you use a normal repo name (e.g. homepage), set baseurl: "/homepage" in _config.yml and the site will live at https://<your-username>.github.io/homepage.
