Hi there, I'm Christopher πŸ‘‹

Civil Engineering Student | Software Builder | Problem Solver

I'm based in Central Florida and currently studying Civil Engineering while building software projects around problems I actually want to solve. Software development is no longer my full-time career, so most of what I build now is driven by curiosity, usefulness, and personal interest rather than client deadlines.

πŸš€ What I'm Working On

These days, most of my coding happens through passion projects, experiments, and tools I build for myself.

πŸ—οΈ Construction Project Management App

I'm currently building a lightweight construction management application focused primarily on pre-construction.

The goal is to create a simple tool that can manage a construction project from the early planning stages without the complexity of large enterprise platforms.

Current areas of focus include:

  • Project budgets and cost tracking
  • Estimates and pre-construction planning
  • Project information and documentation
  • Subcontractor and vendor organization
  • Simple workflows that can evolve as I learn more about construction and project management
  • Clean, modular architecture rather than treating the MVP like throwaway code

Built primarily with Nuxt, Vue, and TypeScript.

πŸ“š Study & Quiz App

I'm also building a quiz and study application to help with my college coursework.

The project came from wanting a better way to turn class material into something I could actively practice instead of just rereading notes.

The app is designed around:

  • Practice quizzes
  • Exam-style testing
  • Quick review sessions
  • Organizing concepts by course and topic
  • Identifying weak areas
  • Making repetitive studying faster and more useful

I actively use it while studying subjects like chemistry, mathematics, and programming.

πŸ›οΈ Historicus

Historicus is a history education project I built to make learning about the past more engaging and accessible.

The project includes:

  • Historical content researched from primary and secondary sources
  • Interactive timelines and visual storytelling
  • "Today in History" content
  • Experiments with educational technology and content organization

Historicus is still a project I care about, although my current development focus has shifted more toward tools related to school and construction.

πŸŽ“ What I'm Doing Now

I'm currently studying Civil Engineering in Florida while working toward a career in the construction and engineering industry.

A lot of my attention now goes toward:

  • Civil and structural engineering
  • Construction project management
  • Pre-construction and estimating
  • CAD and technical drafting
  • Mathematics and chemistry
  • Learning how real construction projects move from an idea to something that actually gets built

My background in software has become another tool I can bring into that world.

Instead of coding being the end goal, I'm increasingly interested in using software to solve problems I encounter in engineering, construction, school, and everyday work.

πŸ’» Software Background

Before returning to school, I spent several years working professionally in web development and SaaS.

My experience includes frontend and full-stack development across startups, SaaS platforms, and client projects.

Previous experience includes:

  • Megaport (2021–2024) - Frontend developer on an enterprise SaaS platform for cloud networking. Worked with Vue 2, Vue 3, JavaScript, APIs, internal tools, and large production applications supporting global customers and cloud providers including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

  • Sweetie Boy Delivers / AutosDLVRD (2021) - Full-stack developer on a small team building a logistics SaaS platform for vehicle transportation, dispatching, and fleet management.

  • Growth Channel (2020–2021) - Full-stack development internship working on a marketing automation platform using Vue, Nuxt, Python, and APIs.

  • Freelance & Client Development - Built websites and applications for small businesses including beauty businesses, automotive companies, and local service providers.

Coding isn't my full-time job anymore, but I still enjoy building software and probably always will.

The difference now is that I get to be much more selective about what I build.

🧠 How I Like to Build

Even though most of my current projects are personal projects, I still approach them with the same engineering discipline I used professionally.

I care about:

  • Clean, modular architecture
  • DRY code
  • Strong TypeScript usage
  • Small, reusable components
  • Clear separation of responsibilities
  • Maintainable project structure
  • Documentation that stays current with the codebase
  • Building the smallest useful version first and improving it through actual use

I'm especially interested in using AI as a development tool while still treating architecture, product direction, and technical decisions as engineering responsibilities rather than blindly generating code.
