feat(web): Field Defaults settings, hotreload coalesce, and UI polish - #525
Land process-ready hooks so document can ensure attachment GC via task.Schedule
after application services are up, without wiping the shared JS runtime.
- add @HookReady / PhaseReady and run it after ingress + dialer
- seed CHOYSUM_* + resident __choysum_hook__ in bundles/app entry
- ready path InvokeOnly; InternalKey allowlist for Schedule Search/Create/UpdateById
- resolve bootstrap auth.user_admin Id for hook JS identity (not Username admin)
- move document GC ensure to ready; unpublic RunGarbageCollection for worker routing
- drop Go schedule table writes and meta post_init sample
- Ignore editor atomic-write XX* temps so they do not fill the queue
- Coalesce in-flight events by resolved module; fingerprint still skips no-ops
- Mark dirty modules on queue_full and requeue after the current upgrade
- Raise default hotReloadQueueSize from 8 to 32 for cross-module bursts
The leftover auth_user.language varchar backfill logged ERROR when the
column was already gone; LanguageId is the live field and no migration
is required. Keep terminology grant cleanup and share resolveDb helper.
Keep left guide-line inset for hierarchy, but zero right margin/padding so
long labels like Property Definitions share the parent row width. Correct
SidebarMenuSub data-sidebar from menu-badge to menu-sub.

Walkthrough
The PR adds Field Defaults pages and routes, ready-phase hooks with bootstrap identity resolution, seeded backend entries, worker-only method invocation, and hot-reload recovery. It also updates TypeScript settings, terminology, shared UI behavior, and auth post-upgrade cleanup.
New configs use ES2020 and useDefineForClassFields: false. Eligible existing configs are reconciled without changing custom targets or invalid JSON.
Ready Hooks and Runtime Execution
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Define and dispatch the ready phase modules/core/service/orm/decorator/*, internal/module/evolution/hooks/dispatcher_script.go, internal/module/evolution/hooks/hook_phase_scan.go
The lifecycle API exports HookReady, the scanner detects it, and the dispatcher runs registered hooks sequentially.
Resolve hook execution identity and context internal/module/evolution/systemidentity/*, internal/module/evolution/scripts/*, internal/module/evolution/hooks/runner.go, internal/testing/backend/unit_identity.go
Context construction resolves the session user or bootstrap admin and supplies company context.
Run ready hooks during startup internal/module/evolution/hooks/ready.go, internal/server/server_ready_hooks.go, internal/server/server_startup.go
Installed modules’ ready hooks run after transport ingress. Hook errors fail startup in the ready_hooks phase.
Generated entries import the dispatcher, module identity seeds, and service entries in stable dependency order.
Route attachment scheduling through worker execution modules/document/service/hook/ready.ts, internal/service/worker_fullmethod.go, internal/service/runtime.go, internal/server/middleware/auth/grpcauth/interceptor.go
The attachment-GC hook uses HookReady and a resolved user ID. The worker-only method bypasses descriptor lookup, and schedule methods use internal authentication.
Installation no longer manages the legacy meta or document schedules. Related hooks and tests were removed.
Field Defaults Settings
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Add shared Field Defaults pages and routes modules/web/web/views/*FieldDefault*, modules/web/web/pages/FieldDefault*, modules/web/web/pages/field_default_*.ts, modules/web/web/route/fieldDefaultRoutes.ts, modules/web/web/route/index.ts, modules/web/web/appSetup.ts
Shared list and form views, application-aware bindings, authenticated routes, and route registration provide the Field Defaults interface.
Wire application-specific routes and access modules/auth/data/bootstrap.json, modules/{auth,base,meta,partner,sandbox}/web/*, modules/web/web/menu/menus.ts
Application menus and routes add Field Defaults entries. Auth bootstrap data adds sys.admin access rules.
Add Field Defaults translations and terminology modules/*/i18n/*, modules/web/i18n/*, modules/web/web/pages/property_definition_list_page.ts, modules/web/web/route/propertyDefinitionRoutes.ts
Catalogs add Field Defaults labels and replace Record Properties with Property Definitions.
The watcher ignores matching extensionless XX/xx temporary basenames. Resolved events coalesce by module; dropped work is tracked and retried. The default queue capacity is 32.
Index columns use narrower widths and tabular numerals. Sidebar spacing and property-definition layout changed. The empty-state New action is limited to hidden-header views.

🔒 Security concerns
Authz widening: task.Schedule/Search|Create|UpdateById added to internalAuthPreferredMethods allows InternalKey holders to create schedules (arbitrary FullMethod execution) without user auth. Ensure InternalKey is process-scoped and not reachable from untrusted module JS. Also writeSeededBundlesEntry emits unescaped absolute paths into generated TS imports; a crafted ServiceEntryPoint could inject code into the generated entry.
createSchedule now throws when getUserId() is empty. Since @HookReady is a required phase that blocks startup, a missing bootstrap admin identity will abort server startup rather than degrade. Combined with the buildJsContext hard error, a fresh install without seeded auth.user_admin cannot start. Verify bootstrap ordering seeds admin before ready hooks.
asyncfunctioncreateSchedule(): Promise<void>{constactorUserId=String(getUserId()||'').trim();if(!actorUserId){thrownewError('SchedulerUserId requires an authenticated principal (bootstrap admin User.Id)');}
FieldDefaultCreate path web/field-defaults/:application/new and FieldDefaultDetailweb/field-defaults/:application/:id are registered globally (not per-app) in fieldDefaultRoutes, while each domain module also registers FieldDefaultList_<app>. The create/detail routes are only registered once via web's registerFieldDefaultRoutes, but domain modules import fieldDefaultListComponent only. If a domain module is installed without web, create/detail routes are missing. Confirm web is always installed.
bindStore creates a new store on every application change but never disposes the previous store. Navigating between apps (or repeated watcher triggers) accumulates stores in the registry keyed by FieldDefault_<app>. If createStoreByModel caches by storeId this is benign, but if it creates fresh instances each call it leaks. Verify registry semantics.
takeDirtyModules clears the dirty set before this loop, so any entry that is re-marked via markDirtyModule (busy or queue_full) is only re-queued on the next requeueDirtyWatchModules call. If no further event arrives, the module stays dirty forever. Trigger a follow-up requeue (or keep the dirty set) when re-marking occurred so dropped modules are not silently lost.
+ requeued := false
for key, file := range pending {
if s.hotreload.isModuleBusy(key) {
s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)
+ requeued = true
continue
}
if !s.enqueueWatchEvent(file) {
// enqueueWatchEvent re-marks dirty on queue_full; other drop reasons
// leave the module unmarked until a later filesystem event.
+ requeued = true
continue
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 6
__
Why: takeDirtyModules clears the set before the loop, and re-marked entries (busy or queue_full) are only retried on a later requeueDirtyWatchModules call. This is a plausible correctness concern for dropped modules being silently lost, though the improved_code only sets an unused requeued flag without actually triggering a follow-up requeue, so it does not fully implement the described fix.

Guard nil module in warn path
r.module.Name is dereferenced in the warn path without a nil check, while the rest of the file guards r.runtimeScope. A Runner built with a nil module (or a module whose Name is empty) would panic here instead of logging. Guard the module access the same way as the scope.
var scripts []*jsengine.JsScript
if !opts.InvokeOnly {
var moduleScoped bool
var err error
scripts, moduleScoped, err = r.resolveScripts(ctx, phase, opts, resolved.Required)
if err != nil {
if !resolved.Required {
if r.runtimeScope != nil {
- r.runtimeScope.Logger().Warn("hook script unavailable", "module", r.module.Name, "phase", string(phase), "reason", "ignored", "error", err)+ moduleName := ""+ if r.module != nil {+ moduleName = r.module.Name+ }+ r.runtimeScope.Logger().Warn("hook script unavailable", "module", moduleName, "phase", string(phase), "reason", "ignored", "error", err)
}
return nil
}
return err
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: The warn path dereferences r.module.Name without a nil check while guarding r.runtimeScope. However, Runner is constructed via NewRunner which likely validates the module, and the surrounding code (r.moduleSelector()) already dereferences r.module unconditionally, so a nil module would panic earlier anyway. Low practical impact.

Hoist JS context build out of retry loop
buildJsContext is recomputed on every retry attempt, but it only depends on ctx/opts and now performs a DB lookup via systemidentity.ResolvePrincipalUserID. Hoist it out of the retry loop so a transient DB error is not retried pointlessly and the bootstrap-admin query runs once per phase.
+ jsCtx, jsCtxErr := r.buildJsContext(ctx, opts)+ if jsCtxErr != nil {+ return jsCtxErr+ }
var lastErr error
for i := 0; i < attempts; i++ {
execCtx := r.buildExecContext(ctx)
- jsCtx, jsCtxErr := r.buildJsContext(ctx, opts)- if jsCtxErr != nil {- lastErr = jsCtxErr- break- }
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 5
__
Why: buildJsContext now performs a DB lookup via ResolvePrincipalUserID, so recomputing it per retry is wasteful. Hoisting it is a reasonable performance/behavior improvement, though the retry semantics change slightly (a transient DB error would no longer be retried). Moderate value.

Validate model table before query
userModel.ModelTable comes from the DB and is interpolated into session.Table(...). Validate it against the same safe-segment rules used elsewhere (or quote it) so a corrupted/attacker-influenced meta_model.model_table cannot inject SQL. Also prefer session.DB scoping consistent with the surrounding transaction.
var userModel meta.Model
if lookupErr := session.DB.Where("application = ? AND name = ?", "auth", "User").First(&userModel).Error; lookupErr != nil {
if errors.Is(lookupErr, gorm.ErrRecordNotFound) {
// Auth installed but User seed/projection missing — treat as no inject.
return nil
}
return xfmt.Errorf("lookup auth.User for bootstrap admin identity: %w", lookupErr)
}
- if strings.TrimSpace(userModel.ModelTable) == "" {+ table := strings.TrimSpace(userModel.ModelTable)+ if table == "" {
return nil
+ }+ for _, seg := range strings.Split(table, ".") {+ if !isSafeTableSegment(seg) {+ return xfmt.Errorf("unsafe auth.User model table %q for bootstrap admin identity", table)+ }
}
var row struct {
CompanyID string `gorm:"column:company_id"`
}
- qErr := session.Table(userModel.ModelTable).Select("company_id").Where("id = ?", userID).Take(&row).Error+ qErr := session.Table(table).Select("company_id").Where("id = ?", userID).Take(&row).Error
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: userModel.ModelTable is interpolated into session.Table(...). GORM's Table does not parameterize identifiers, so validating the table name is a legitimate hardening. However, the value comes from the trusted meta_model projection rather than user input, and the suggested isSafeTableSegment helper is not shown to exist, so the fix is somewhat speculative.

Avoid nil-transactor panics and hard-fail when auth is absent so CLI/lifecycle

When preserveExecutorScripts is set but prevScripts is empty, restoreAfter stays false and the deferred restore is skipped, so the hook scripts remain installed on the shared executor and leak into later runs. Set restoreAfter whenever preserve is requested so the previous (possibly empty) set is always restored.
Why: Valid concern: when preserveExecutorScripts is set with empty prevScripts, restoreAfter stays false and the deferred restore is skipped, leaving hook scripts installed. The proposed fix correctly sets restoreAfter whenever preserve is requested, preventing script leakage into later runs.

Preserve dirty mark on any drop
takeDirtyModules clears the whole dirty set before iterating; if a module is still busy it is re-marked, but if enqueueWatchEvent drops for a non-queue_full reason (e.g. ignored path) the dirty mark is lost permanently. Re-mark dirty on any failed enqueue so a later requeueDirtyWatchModules can retry instead of silently losing the change.
for key, file := range pending {
if s.hotreload.isModuleBusy(key) {
s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)
continue
}
if !s.enqueueWatchEvent(file) {
- // enqueueWatchEvent re-marks dirty on queue_full; other drop reasons- // leave the module unmarked until a later filesystem event.+ // Keep the module dirty so a later requeue can retry; enqueueWatchEvent+ // already re-marks on queue_full, this covers other drop reasons.+ s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)
continue
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 6
__
Why: Reasonable hardening: takeDirtyModules clears the set, so a non-queue_full drop loses the dirty mark. Re-marking on any failed enqueue is a defensible fix, though the practical impact is limited since ignored paths are filtered earlier and the comment acknowledges the tradeoff.
Low
Performance
Build JS context once outside retry loop
buildJsContext is now called inside the retry loop, so each attempt re-runs the bootstrap-admin DB resolution (multiple queries/transactions) even though the identity cannot change between retries. Hoist it above the loop (as before) and only build execCtx per attempt.
- var lastErr error+ jsCtx, jsCtxErr := r.buildJsContext(ctx, opts)+ if jsCtxErr != nil {+ return jsCtxErr+ }+ var lastErr error
for i := 0; i < attempts; i++ {
execCtx := r.buildExecContext(ctx)
- jsCtx, jsCtxErr := r.buildJsContext(ctx, opts)- if jsCtxErr != nil {- lastErr = jsCtxErr- break- }
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 6
__
Why: Correct and relevant: buildJsContext now performs DB resolution via ResolvePrincipalUserID, so calling it per retry attempt is wasteful. Hoisting it above the loop is a sound performance improvement, though it changes error handling slightly (returns instead of setting lastErr).
Low
Possible issue
Avoid double auth-installed lookup
ResolveBootstrapAdmin returns ok=false both when auth is absent and when auth is installed but the seed is missing, so ResolvePrincipalUserID must re-query authModuleInstalled to distinguish them — two separate transactions and a TOCTOU window where auth can be installed between the calls. Return the installed state from the same transaction (e.g. a third installed result) so the decision is atomic and the extra query is avoided.
+ if !session.Migrator().HasTable((&meta.Module{}).TableName()) {+ return nil+ }+ var authMod meta.Module+ if err := session.Select("id", "status").Where("name = ?", "auth").Take(&authMod).Error; err != nil {+ if errors.Is(err, gorm.ErrRecordNotFound) {+ return nil+ }+ return xfmt.Errorf("load auth module for bootstrap admin identity: %w", err)+ }+ if authMod.Status != meta.Installed {+ return nil+ }
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: The observation about a TOCTOU window and a redundant authModuleInstalled query is valid, but the improved_code is identical to existing_code and does not implement the suggested change (returning installed state from the same transaction). It's a reasonable hardening note but the fix isn't demonstrated.
Raise patch coverage for bootstrap identity, ready hooks, worker
fullmethod, seeded entry, toposort, hotreload, and tsconfig reconcile.
Apply PR-agent fixes: restore scripts when preserve has empty prev,
re-mark dirty on any failed requeue, hoist buildJsContext, and resolve
authInstalled in one transaction. Extend Vue FE asserts for index width
and headerless empty-state New.
Querying meta.Module on an unmigrated database will return a database table-not-found error and fail server startup during clean initial installs or bootstrap. Check session.Migrator().HasTable((&meta.Module{}).TableName()) before querying session.Where(...).Find(&installed) and return nil if the table does not exist.
+ if !session.Migrator().HasTable((&meta.Module{}).TableName()) {+ return nil+ }
var installed []meta.Module
if err := session.Where("status = ?", meta.Installed).Order("id ASC").Find(&installed).Error; err != nil {
return xfmt.Errorf("load installed modules for ready hooks: %w", err)
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 6
__
Why: The suggestion is plausible: runApplicationReadyHooks queries meta.Module without a HasTable guard, unlike resolveBootstrapAdmin which checks HasTable first. On a fresh/unmigrated DB this could fail startup. However, it's uncertain whether the module table is guaranteed to exist at this startup phase, so impact is moderate rather than critical.
Low
Prevent re-marking ignored files as dirty
When enqueueWatchEvent(file) fails because the watch path should be ignored (e.g. editor temp files or ignored patterns) or due to coalesce, s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file) re-marks the module dirty on every single requeue loop, permanently keeping non-actionable entries in dirtyModules. Check shouldIgnoreWatchPath(file) or verify if the file was truly dropped before re-marking dirty to avoid infinite dirty retry loops.
for key, file := range pending {
+ if shouldIgnoreWatchPath(file) {+ continue+ }
if s.hotreload.isModuleBusy(key) {
s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)
continue
}
if !s.enqueueWatchEvent(file) {
- // enqueueWatchEvent re-marks dirty on queue_full; re-mark here for- // other drop reasons so a later requeue can retry.- s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)+ // Only re-mark dirty if the module is busy or still needed; ignored paths shouldn't loop.+ if !shouldIgnoreWatchPath(file) {+ s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(key, file)+ }
continue
}
if s.runtimeScope != nil {
s.runtimeScope.Logger().Info("watch reload requeued after queue_full", "file", file, "module", key)
}
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 5
__
Why: The concern is valid in principle, but enqueueWatchEvent already returns false for ignored paths and the requeue loop re-marks dirty, which could loop. However, requeueDirtyWatchModules is only invoked after finishing an event, and the test TestRequeueDirtyWatchModulesIgnoredPathReMarksDirty explicitly asserts the re-mark behavior, suggesting it's intentional. The suggestion partially contradicts existing test expectations, lowering its score.
Low
Handle runner initialization errors in ready hook
NewRunner can return an error if module initialization or script path validation fails. Ignoring this error can lead to a nil runner or invalid execution state, causing an unhandled panic on runner.RunPhase. Check and return the error from NewRunner.
ordered, cyclic := plan.StableTopoSortModules(candidates)
if cyclic && runtimeScope.Logger() != nil {
runtimeScope.Logger().Warn("ready hook module order has dependency cycle; using alphabetical fallback")
}
for i := range ordered {
mod := ordered[i]
- runner, _ := NewRunner(runtimeScope, jsExecutor, &mod)+ runner, err := NewRunner(runtimeScope, jsExecutor, &mod)+ if err != nil {+ return fmt.Errorf("init runner for module %s: %w", mod.Name, err)+ }
if err := runner.RunPhase(ctx, PhaseReady, RunOptions{

ReuseExecutorScripts: opts.ReuseExecutorScripts,
PreserveExecutorScripts: opts.PreserveExecutorScripts,
}); err != nil {
return fmt.Errorf("ready hook for module %s: %w", mod.Name, err)
}
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: The suggestion to check the NewRunner error is reasonable defensive coding, but the PR code deliberately discards it with _, and whether NewRunner can actually return a non-nil error here is unclear from the diff. It's a minor robustness improvement rather than a confirmed bug.
Low
Security
Verify non-admin read access to FieldDefault
The new FieldDefault grants are added for sys_admin, but the PR also introduces a FieldDefault model that other roles (e.g. regular users) may need to read their own defaults. Verify that non-admin roles get at least read access, otherwise the Field Defaults settings page will be empty/forbidden for them. If read access is intended for all authenticated users, add a corresponding grant or document the admin-only intent.
Why: The suggestion only asks to verify non-admin access, and the improved_code is identical to existing_code, so it offers no concrete change. It is a reasonable security consideration but speculative since admin-only intent may be deliberate.
Low
Maintainability
Document ready-hook failure recovery
The doc states ready-phase failures "block startup readiness" but does not describe how an operator recovers from a permanently failing ready hook (e.g. a bad seed). Document the failure/retry semantics and how to bypass or diagnose a stuck ready hook, otherwise a single broken cross-app seed can make the whole process unstartable.
`@HookReady()` / phase `ready` runs after **this process** has registered its
application services, activated the JS runtime, and started transport ingress
(so cross-app gRPC Dial works). Triggered on cold start, bootstrap mode-switch
into application, and equivalent reload. Use this for cross-app seeds such as
ensuring a `task.Schedule` row. The phase is **required** by default: failures
-block startup readiness.+block startup readiness. On failure the error is surfaced with the module and+handler name; fix the handler or remove the `@HookReady()` decorator to unblock+startup, then re-run the seed.
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: This is a documentation enhancement about failure recovery semantics, which is a minor maintainability improvement. It does not address a correctness or security issue in the PR code.
Low
Note downstream selectors affected by fix
The entry documents the data-sidebar fix but does not note whether any product CSS previously targeted the wrong menu-badge value. If such selectors exist, they will silently stop matching after this change; add a note (or a follow-up task) to grep for data-sidebar='menu-badge' consumers.
- **Do not regress:** Keep `data-sidebar="menu-sub"` on the sub list `<ul>` when
re-copying sidebar primitives from upstream.
+- **Follow-up:** grep product CSS for `data-sidebar='menu-badge'` selectors that+ previously (incorrectly) matched the sub list and retarget them to `menu-sub`.
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: This is a documentation note suggesting a follow-up grep for affected selectors. It is a minor maintainability improvement and does not affect the actual code correctness.
Low
Possible issue
Align i18n context with source file
The action labels (Copy/Create/Delete/Edit Field Default) are emitted under the web/views/FieldDefaultFormView context even though they originate from field_default_actions.ts. If the same msgids are later used from another view, the context mismatch will cause missing translations. Consider emitting them under a dedicated web/views/field_default_actions context.
Why: The context mismatch is a plausible but speculative concern; the msgctxt is generated by the extraction tooling and changing it manually would likely be overwritten. The improved_code also only shows one of several affected entries, making it incomplete.
The check at lines 144-147 reads the deadline of the caller's own ctx. The callee cannot change that value. time.Until(deadline) > time.Minute is also always false, because the deadline was set with time.Minute. The assertion therefore cannot fail. It does not show that invokeWorkerOnlyFullMethod keeps an existing parent deadline.
The second call (lines 148-154) also does not show that TimeoutMs creates a child deadline. workerOnlyExec.Execute records only req and ignores ctx.
Record ctx.Deadline() in workerOnlyExec.Execute. Then assert that:
The first call sees the parent deadline.
The second call sees a deadline of about 50 ms.

The nowISO/NowISO special-casing is a GC-specific contract baked into a generic worker helper; any future worker-only method with a nowISO field will silently receive a bare string instead of the payload map. Move this shaping into the GC-specific path or key it off the full method.
-func workerPayloadArgs(payload map[string]interface{}) []interface{} {+func workerPayloadArgs(fullMethod string, payload map[string]interface{}) []interface{} {

}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 5
__
Why: Valid maintainability concern: the nowISO/NowISO special-casing is GC-specific and could mis-shape future worker-only methods. Keying it off the full method is a reasonable, low-risk improvement, though it is not a correctness bug in the current code.

Verify i18n context matches source file
The field_default_actions.ts strings are emitted under the web/views/FieldDefaultFormView context, which looks like a copy/paste of the form-view context. If the extractor keys on file path, this context mismatch can break lookups; confirm the intended msgctxt matches the source file.
Why: The observation that field_default_actions.ts strings are emitted under the FieldDefaultFormView msgctxt is plausible and could indicate a context mismatch. However, the improved_code proposes changing the msgctxt, which would break lookups if the source actually uses the form-view context; the suggestion itself hedges with "confirm", so it is a verification request rather than a confirmed fix.

Harden ready hook failure handling
The doc states ready-hook failures block startup with no skip flag, which is a hard availability risk for a single bad seed. Document (or add) a bounded retry/timeout so a transient cross-app Dial failure does not permanently wedge readiness, and note the operator escape hatch.
The phase is **required** by default: failures
block startup readiness. Recovery: fix the hook (or its seed data), then restart
the process; there is no skip flag — a permanently failing ready hook keeps the
-process from becoming ready until the underlying error is resolved.+process from becoming ready until the underlying error is resolved. Transient+failures (e.g. cross-app Dial not yet reachable) should be retried with a bounded+backoff before the process is declared unready.
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: This is a documentation-only suggestion about adding retry/backoff guidance. It does not address a concrete bug in the PR and the improved_code merely appends prose. The doc explicitly states the intended fail-closed behavior, so the suggestion is largely a design opinion rather than a correctness fix.

Release stale busy key on requeue
enqueueWatchEvent re-resolves the module from file, so the requeued event's busy key may differ from key (e.g. a previously unresolved path now resolves to a module). If it differs, the original key is never released and stays busy forever. Verify the resolved key matches or release the stale key explicitly.
for key, file := range pending {
if shouldIgnoreWatchPath(file) {
// Ignored editor temps / generated paths must not loop forever as dirty.
continue
}
if s.hotreload.isModuleBusy(key) {
s.hotreload.markDirtyModuleIfAbsent(key, file)
continue
}
if !s.enqueueWatchEvent(file) {

// other drop reasons so a later requeue can retry. Prefer a newer

s.hotreload.markDirtyModuleIfAbsent(key, file)
continue
}
+ if resolvedKey := watchEventBusyKey(s.resolveWatchModule(file), file); resolvedKey != key {+ s.hotreload.finishModuleEvent(key)+ }
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: The concern about a busy key mismatch is plausible but speculative; enqueueWatchEvent re-resolves the module and the busy key is released in handleQueuedWatchEvent via the same watchEventBusyKey derivation. The added finishModuleEvent(key) could even double-release. Marginal hardening at best.

Guard nil tx scope in callback
transactor.Required is called with the outer ctx while txScope is derived from txRoot; if the transactor ignores ctx and uses the scope's own context, the nil-context fallback is lost. Pass the normalized ctx consistently and guard against a nil txScope inside the callback before dereferencing txScope.Session().
Why: The nil txScope guard is a defensive hardening, but the ctx part of the suggestion is questionable since transactor.Required(ctx, ...) already receives the normalized ctx. The nil-scope dereference protection is a minor robustness improvement rather than a real bug fix.

Ensure preserve always restores scripts
When prevScripts is empty, scriptsToLoad stays equal to scripts, so restoreAfter is set but the deferred restore only runs under changedScripts; if scripts happens to be equivalent to an empty set (e.g. nil), nothing is restored and the hook scripts leak. Set scriptsToLoad explicitly to scripts in the empty-prev branch and make the restore condition independent of changedScripts when restoreAfter is true.
if preserveExecutorScripts && len(scripts) > 0 {
if len(prevScripts) > 0 {
scriptsToLoad = append(append([]*jsengine.JsScript{}, prevScripts...), scripts...)
+ } else {+ scriptsToLoad = append([]*jsengine.JsScript{}, scripts...)
}
// Always restore when preserve was requested, including empty prevScripts,
// so hook scripts do not leak into later shared-executor runs.
restoreAfter = true
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 2
__
Why: The premise is inaccurate: when prevScripts is empty, scriptsToLoad already equals scripts (the initial assignment), so the else branch is redundant. The restore is already gated on changedScripts which is true whenever scripts is non-empty and differs from empty, so no leak occurs in practice.

Verify record scoping for field defaults
The sys_admin role gets full write access to FieldDefault, but there is no corresponding RoleRecordRule scoping it. If FieldDefault rows are per-company/per-user, a global allow could let admin operations cross tenant boundaries. Verify a record rule (or company scope) exists for FieldDefault, and add it here if not.
Why: The suggestion asks to verify that a record rule or company scope exists for FieldDefault. This is a reasonable security consideration, but it is only a verification request and the improved_code is identical to the existing_code, offering no concrete change. The sys_admin role is typically a global admin grant, so cross-tenant concern is speculative.

Enforce sidebar attribute contract with test
The HISTORY entry documents a kit contract fix (data-sidebar value change), but the diff shows no accompanying test or snapshot asserting the attribute. Add a small assertion (or note the existing one) so the "do not regress" contract is actually enforced.

Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: The suggestion asks for a test/snapshot asserting the data-sidebar="menu-sub" attribute, but the diff only touches a HISTORY.md changelog entry. The improved_code only adds a note rather than an actual test, so it does not enforce anything and has limited impact.
This server has no watch target for dir. As a result, enqueueWatchEvent(oldFile) uses oldFile as its dirty key, not "demo". The assertion can pass even when a queue-full retry overwrites newFile for a registered module. Register a "demo" watch target rooted at dir, then exercise the retry and assert that "demo" still maps to newFile. (raw.githubusercontent.com)

When ctx already has a deadline, check whether req.TimeoutMs represents a shorter timeout than the existing deadline. Currently, any existing parent deadline completely skips setting the requested timeout, even if req.TimeoutMs is significantly shorter (e.g. a worker task limit of 10s running inside a 10-minute parent context).
if req.TimeoutMs > 0 {
- if _, ok := ctx.Deadline(); !ok {+ timeout := time.Duration(req.TimeoutMs) * time.Millisecond+ deadline, ok := ctx.Deadline()+ if !ok || time.Until(deadline) > timeout {

Suggestion importance[1-10]: 6
__
Why: Reasonable hardening: when the parent context already has a deadline longer than req.TimeoutMs, the requested worker timeout is silently ignored. The improved code correctly applies the shorter timeout. However, the existing test TestInvokeWorkerOnlyFullMethodEdgeCases explicitly asserts the parent deadline is unchanged when already set, so this change would require updating that test — the suggestion doesn't mention this, but the underlying observation is valid.

Prevent infinite requeue on drop failures
Check whether enqueueWatchEvent(file) coalesced before blindly re-marking dirty with markDirtyModuleIfAbsent. If enqueueWatchEvent coalesced because key is currently busy with an in-flight reload, enqueueWatchEvent already called markDirtyModule(busyKey, file). More importantly, if the file was dropped due to an unrecoverable failure (e.g. resolveWatchPath failure or ignored path), re-marking it here can cause infinite dirty-requeue loops. Only re-mark if the module is busy or the queue was actually full.
if !s.enqueueWatchEvent(file) {
- // enqueueWatchEvent re-marks dirty on queue_full; re-mark here for- // other drop reasons so a later requeue can retry. continue
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: The concern about infinite dirty-requeue loops is partially valid, but the suggested fix is incomplete: enqueueWatchEvent already re-marks dirty on queue_full, and the shouldIgnoreWatchPath guard at the top of the loop already filters ignored paths. The proposed isModuleBusy check would actually skip re-marking when the queue is full but the module isn't busy, which is the exact case that needs re-marking. Marginal correctness value.

Verify i18n msgctxt matches source context
The action strings (Copy/Create/Delete/Edit Field Default) are extracted from field_default_actions.ts but attributed to the FieldDefaultFormView msgctxt. If the source file uses a different context, the lookup at runtime will miss and fall back to the raw msgid; verify the msgctxt matches the actual $t context used in field_default_actions.ts.
Why: The msgctxt mismatch concern is plausible and could cause runtime fallback to raw msgids, but the suggestion is a "verify" request and the proposed improved_code changes the context to a guessed value that may itself be wrong. Moderate relevance but not a confirmed fix.

Also verify the LogicalModelName matches the model name registered by the service layer exactly, since a mismatch silently grants nothing.
Why: The suggestion asks to verify that FieldDefault grants are only seeded for sys_admin and that LogicalModelName matches the registered model. Use DB field on session instance
*Use session.DB when querying the meta_module table. session is scope.Session, and calling session.Where(...) delegates directly to GORM's session.DB without scoping or error isolation, which can lead to inconsistencies if custom session scopes/transactions are configured. Calling session.DB.Where(...) ensures consistent query builder behavior matching surrounding server methods.
var installed []meta.Module
- if err := session.Where("status = ?", meta.Installed).Order("id ASC").Find(&installed).Error; err != nil {+ if err := session.DB.Where("status = ?", meta.Installed).Order("id ASC").Find(&installed).Error; err != nil {
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 2
__
Why: The claim that session.Where(...) "delegates directly to GORM's session.DB without scoping" is inaccurate — *scope.Session embeds *gorm.DB, so session.Where is equivalent to session.DB.Where. This is a stylistic preference with no functional impact, and the surrounding code in the PR uses session.Where consistently.

Add escape hatch for failing ready hooks
A ready hook that fails permanently blocks startup with no escape hatch, which is a serious operational risk (a bad seed or transient downstream error can brick the process). Document (and ideally implement) a bounded retry/backoff or an explicit operator override so a failing ready hook degrades rather than permanently prevents readiness.
`@HookReady()` / phase `ready` runs after **this process** has registered its
application services, activated the JS runtime, and started transport ingress
(so cross-app gRPC Dial works). Triggered on cold start, bootstrap mode-switch

Failures are retried with bounded backoff; if they+persist, an explicit operator override (documented below) allows the process to+become ready while the hook error is surfaced in logs/health output.
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 2
__
Why: This is a documentation-only change proposing a behavioral/operational change (retry/backoff, operator override) that is not part of the PR's actual code. It is speculative and the improved_code documents behavior that does not exist, which could make the docs inaccurate.
Apply req.TimeoutMs when the parent deadline is absent or longer than the
worker limit, and stop requeue from remaking dirty after unrecoverable
enqueue drops so ignored/unresolved paths cannot loop forever.
authInstalled and out are written inside the transaction callback and read after it returns. If the transactor retries the callback (e.g. SQLite busy retry), a failed attempt that already set authInstalled = true will leak into the final result and can make ResolvePrincipalUserID return ErrBootstrapAdminUnavailable even when the retry succeeded. Reset both at the start of the callback.
Why: The concern is plausible: authInstalled and out are captured by the closure and written inside transactor.Required, so a retried callback could leak stale state. However, whether Required actually retries the callback is defined in the outer codebase, and the fix is a defensive hardening rather than a confirmed bug in this diff.

Only normalize non-bool class-field flag
v != false compares an interface{} against an untyped bool, so a JSON value that is not a bool (e.g. the string "false") is silently overwritten, and a user who explicitly set true gets it flipped without notice. Since this function is documented to leave custom configs alone, only normalize when the key is absent or holds a non-bool, and log/skip when it is an explicit true.
- if v, exists := opts["useDefineForClassFields"]; !exists || v != false {+ if v, exists := opts["useDefineForClassFields"]; !exists {+ opts["useDefineForClassFields"] = false+ changed = true+ } else if b, ok := v.(bool); ok && !b {+ // already false+ } else if _, ok := v.(bool); !ok {
opts["useDefineForClassFields"] = false
changed = true
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 5
__
Why: The v != false comparison against an untyped bool is technically valid Go for interface comparison, but the suggestion correctly notes that an explicit true gets silently flipped despite the function's "leave custom configs alone" contract. This is a minor correctness/behavior nuance rather than a critical bug.

Verify record rules scope FieldDefault grant
The sys_admin grant for FieldDefault is allow on every logical method, but FieldDefault rows carry UserId/CompanyId scope. Confirm the model's record rules still constrain non-admin users; if this grant is only meant for the admin role, keep it, but add a matching RoleRecordRule (or verify one exists) so a broad method allow cannot be combined with an unscoped read. Otherwise a user with this role could read/write defaults belonging to other users/companies.
Why: The suggestion asks to verify that record rules scope the FieldDefault grant rather than proposing a concrete fix. It is a reasonable security consideration given UserId/CompanyId scoping, but it is a verification request and the improved_code is identical to existing_code, so impact is limited.

Possible issue
Avoid redundant requeue for no-op saves
Coalesced events are marked dirty unconditionally, so after the in-flight upgrade finishes requeueDirtyWatchModules will re-enqueue the same module even when the coalesced save was a no-op (content fingerprint unchanged). That defeats the "content fingerprint still skips no-op restarts" claim and can cause an extra full module upgrade per duplicate save. Consider only marking dirty when the file content actually differs from the in-flight fingerprint, or drop the dirty mark when the requeued event is skipped by the fingerprint check.
busyKey := watchEventBusyKey(module, file)
if !s.hotreload.beginModuleEvent(busyKey) {
// Keep a dirty mark so post-upgrade requeue rescans after the in-flight
// module finishes (coalesce alone would drop mid-flight content changes).
+ // The requeued event still goes through the content fingerprint check.
s.hotreload.markDirtyModule(busyKey, file)
s.recordCoalescedWatchEvent(file)
return false
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 4
__
Why: The observation about unconditional dirty marking is reasonable, but the improved_code is identical to existing_code (only a comment added), so it does not actually implement the proposed change. The requeued event still passes through the fingerprint check, so the practical impact is limited.

Compare absolute deadlines for child timeout
defer cancel() inside this function is fine, but the derived ctx is only used for the JS execute call; if Execute returns before the deadline the cancel runs at function exit, which is correct. However time.Until(deadline) > timeout can be true by a few microseconds even when the parent deadline is effectively equal, creating a redundant child context. Prefer comparing absolute deadlines (time.Now().Add(timeout).Before(deadline)) to avoid spurious child contexts and make the intent explicit.
if req.TimeoutMs > 0 {
timeout := time.Duration(req.TimeoutMs) * time.Millisecond
deadline, ok := ctx.Deadline()
// Apply TimeoutMs when the parent has no deadline, or when it is longer
// than the worker task limit (shorter child timeout wins).
- if !ok || time.Until(deadline) > timeout {+ if !ok || time.Now().Add(timeout).Before(deadline) {
var cancel context.CancelFunc
ctx, cancel = context.WithTimeout(ctx, timeout)
defer cancel()
}
}
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3
__
Why: The suggestion is largely a stylistic/robustness nit; time.Until(deadline) > timeout is functionally equivalent to the proposed absolute comparison. The defer cancel() placement is already correct, so the impact is marginal.

Align msgctxt with actions source file
The action strings (Copy/Create/Delete/Edit Field Default) are attributed to web/views/field_default_actions.ts but use the web/views/FieldDefaultFormView msgctxt. If the actions file is a separate extraction unit, its msgctxt should match the file so lookups resolve; otherwise the source reference is misleading and will drift on regeneration.
Why: The msgctxt is derived from the extraction unit and is consistent across all field_default_actions.ts entries; the source reference and msgctxt need not match. The suggestion is speculative and likely incorrect for gettext extraction semantics.

Add recovery path for failing ready hooks
Documenting that a failing ready hook blocks startup with no skip flag is a real operational hazard: a bad seed or transient Dial failure turns into an unbootable process. Consider documenting (and implementing) a bounded retry/backoff for ready hooks, or at minimum a documented escape hatch (env var / config) so operators can recover without patching code.
`@HookReady()` / phase `ready` runs after **this process** has registered its
application services, activated the JS runtime, and started transport ingress

Recovery: fix+the hook (or its seed data), then restart the process; a documented escape+hatch (env var / config) allows operators to bypass a permanently failing+ready hook while the underlying error is resolved.
Suggestion importance[1-10]: 3

Why: This is a documentation-only suggestion about operational hardening of ready hooks. It is a design/operability concern, not a correctness bug in the PR, and the improved_code describes behavior that would need implementation elsewhere.

Use user-facing labels instead of raw field names
The new FieldDefault form/list labels expose raw field names (Company Id, User Id, Model, Field) to end users. These read as developer identifiers rather than UI labels; consider user-facing wording (e.g. "Company", "User", "Model", "Field") and keep the raw names only in developer-facing views.
Why: This is a UX/wording enhancement about raw field-name labels. It is a minor readability improvement, not a correctness issue, and the labels may be intentional for a developer-facing admin view.
