# Fix IONOS Object Storage Connection Errors — Endpoint and Key Problems Resolved with RcloneView

> Most IONOS Object Storage connection failures come down to the endpoint, the region, or the key pair — and RcloneView gives you a GUI-based way to check each one.

IONOS Object Storage is accessed through rclone's S3 protocol, which means a single mistyped endpoint or a swapped key can produce errors that look unrelated. RcloneView lets you inspect the remote, read the logs, and test commands in the built-in terminal without leaving the app.

## Check the Endpoint and Region First

S3-compatible providers require an Access Key, Secret Key, and an endpoint. If the endpoint does not match the region where the bucket was created, requests fail even though the keys are correct. Typical symptoms are timeouts, "no such host" messages, or a bucket that cannot be found.

Open Remote Manager from the Remote tab, edit the IONOS remote, and compare the endpoint against the one shown in your IONOS control panel for that bucket's region.

<img src="/support/images/en/blog/new-remote.png" alt="Editing an IONOS Object Storage remote endpoint in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

## Re-enter and Test the Key Pair

Access denied or signature errors usually mean the Access Key or Secret Key was pasted with extra whitespace, or the key was regenerated. Re-enter both values, save, and browse the remote root in an Explorer panel.

If you prefer the command line, open the Terminal tab and run `rclone listremotes`, then `rclone about "yourremote:"` to confirm the remote responds. The terminal uses the same configuration as the GUI, so the result tells you exactly what the app sees.

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/mount-from-remote-explorer.png" alt="Browsing the IONOS remote in an RcloneView Explorer panel" class="img-large img-center" />

## Capture Logs for Stubborn Errors

When the cause is still unclear, open Settings > Embedded Rclone, enable rclone Logging, set the level to DEBUG, and restart the embedded rclone. Reproduce the failure and read the log: it shows the exact request and the response code. Also check Global Rclone Flags in the same settings page, since a leftover flag can change connection behavior.

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/job-history.png" alt="Job History showing a failed IONOS Object Storage sync job" class="img-large img-center" />

## Confirm Recovery With a Dry Run

Once the remote lists correctly, rerun your sync job with a Dry Run to preview copies and deletions. Reduce concurrent transfers in Step 2 if errors appear only under heavy load, and keep retries at the default of 3.

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/job-run-click.png" alt="Running a verified IONOS Object Storage job in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

## Getting Started

1. **Download RcloneView** from [rcloneview.com](https://rcloneview.com/src/download.html).
2. Verify the IONOS endpoint matches your bucket's region in Remote Manager.
3. Re-enter the Access Key and Secret Key, then test with `rclone about` in the Terminal tab.
4. Enable DEBUG logging if needed, then confirm with a Dry Run.

Checking endpoint, keys, and logs in order turns a confusing connection error into a short checklist.

# Migrate HiDrive to Wasabi — Transfer Files with RcloneView

> Move a HiDrive archive into Wasabi object storage with a visual workflow: connect, preview, transfer, verify.

HiDrive works well as a personal or team file store, but long-term archives often belong in S3-style object storage with predictable API access. RcloneView connects both services in one window, so you can copy folders cloud-to-cloud without downloading everything to your own disk first.

<RvCta imageSrc="/img/rcloneview-preview.png" downloadUrl="https://rcloneview.com/src/download.html" />

<!-- truncate -->

## Connect HiDrive and Wasabi as Remotes

HiDrive uses OAuth: RcloneView opens your browser, you sign in, and the remote connects without a separate API key. Wasabi is S3-compatible, so you enter an Access Key, Secret Key, and the endpoint for your bucket's region.

Add both from the Remote tab with New Remote. Then open each in an Explorer panel, one on the left and one on the right, and confirm you can browse the HiDrive folders and the target Wasabi bucket.

<img src="/support/images/en/blog/new-remote.png" alt="Adding HiDrive and Wasabi remotes in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

## Plan the Transfer With a Dry Run

Imagine a design studio moving 800 GB of finished project folders out of HiDrive. Before touching anything, build the transfer as a job. Choose HiDrive as the source and a Wasabi bucket path as the destination, then use One-way "Modifying destination only" mode.

Run a Dry Run first. It lists the files that would be copied or deleted without making changes, which is a reliable way to catch a wrong destination folder.

<img src="/support/images/en/blog/cloud-to-cloud-transfer-default.png" alt="Cloud-to-cloud transfer from HiDrive to Wasabi in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

## Tune Settings and Run the Job

In Step 2 of the wizard, set the number of file transfers and enable checksum comparison if you want hash-and-size verification. Keep the retry value at its default of 3 so a brief network failure does not abort the whole run. Use Step 3 filters to skip things like temporary files or a `.git/` folder.

When the preview looks right, run the job and watch speed, progress, and file counts in the Transferring tab.

<img src="/support/images/en/tutorials/wasabi-real-time-monitoring-transferring.png" alt="Monitoring a HiDrive to Wasabi transfer in the Transferring tab" class="img-large img-center" />

## Verify With Folder Compare

After the job finishes, open Compare with HiDrive on one side and Wasabi on the other. Filter for left-only files to see anything that did not arrive, and copy only the missing items. Job History keeps a record of status, duration, size, and file count for your migration log.

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/compare-display-select.png" alt="Folder Compare confirming HiDrive and Wasabi contents match" class="img-large img-center" />

## Getting Started

1. **Download RcloneView** from [rcloneview.com](https://rcloneview.com/src/download.html).
2. Add HiDrive (browser login) and Wasabi (Access Key, Secret Key, endpoint) as remotes.
3. Create a one-way job from HiDrive to your Wasabi bucket and run a Dry Run.
4. Run the transfer, then verify with Folder Compare.

A previewed, verified migration leaves your HiDrive files untouched until you are sure everything has landed in Wasabi.

<RvCta imageSrc="/img/rcloneview-preview.png" downloadUrl="https://rcloneview.com/src/download.html" />

<!-- truncate -->

<img src="/support/images/en/blog/new-remote.png" alt="Bearbeiten des Endpunkts eines IONOS-Object-Storage-Remotes in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/mount-from-remote-explorer.png" alt="Durchsuchen des IONOS-Remotes in einem RcloneView-Explorer-Panel" class="img-large img-center" />

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/job-history.png" alt="Job History mit einem fehlgeschlagenen IONOS-Object-Storage-Sync-Job" class="img-large img-center" />

<img src="/support/images/en/howto/rcloneview-basic/job-run-click.png" alt="Ausführen eines geprüften IONOS-Object-Storage-Jobs in RcloneView" class="img-large img-center" />

## Erste Schritte

1. **Laden Sie RcloneView herunter** von [rcloneview.com](https://rcloneview.com/src/download.html).
2. Prüfen Sie im Remote Manager, ob der IONOS-Endpunkt zur Region Ihres Buckets passt.
