Client fails to load on Paseo 0.11.2: "Unknown Lucide icon: Github" #11

Description

What happens

On Paseo 0.11.2 the plugin installs and its server side starts ("Plugin ready" in the daemon log), but the client fails to load. Settings → Plugins shows the plugin as "failed" with:

Unknown Lucide icon: Github

No GitHub sidebar item, command-center entry or settings screen appears.

Environment

  • Paseo daemon, app and CLI: 0.11.2 (macOS desktop app)
  • Plugin: alysnnix/github-integration at d6f7184 (main, tag v1.0.1), installed with paseo plugin add alysnnix/github-integration
  • Other registry plugins load normally in the same app.

Cause

index.client.tsx passes icon: "Github" in three registrations:

  • client.addSidebarItem({ id: "board", ... })
  • client.addSettingsScreen({ id: "board", ... })
  • client.addCommandCenterItem({ id: "open-board", ... })

A fourth use of the same name is in client/timeline.tsx (<Icon name="Github" ...> in the timeline card header). It is not part of the registration that fails at load, and whether that card renders on 0.11.2 has not been checked.

The plugin depends on @getpaseo/plugin 0.8.0-beta.1. The icon set in Paseo 0.11.2 does not include Github, so the host rejects the name and the whole client registration fails.

Workaround

Replacing the three names with an icon the host has, and reloading the plugin, lets the client load (confirmed on 0.11.2: the GitHub sidebar entry appears; the board itself was not exercised further):

sed -i '' 's/icon: "Github"/icon: "GitPullRequest"/' index.client.tsx
paseo plugin reload github-integration

Suggested fix

Use an icon that exists in the current host icon set (for example GitPullRequest or GitBranch) for those three registrations, and consider raising the @getpaseo/plugin dependency so icon names are checked against a current host.

Thanks for the detailed report and the fix, @keithpk. Confirmed: lucide-react-native 1.x dropped the brand icons, so Github no longer resolves on current hosts and the host rejects the whole client registration. GitPullRequest is in the host icon set. The fix is in #12, which closes this issue once merged.
