"Switch to Read mode" button disappears from radial menu after navigating links

Unfortunately, I only experienced this bug once, and it persisted until I exited the app. I couldn't reproduce it after that.

Thanks for the report, and for the follow-up that it happened once and cleared when you restarted the app. That detail shaped what I did.

Not reproduced. On an Android 15 emulator I followed links between notes in Read and Edit mode, including heading links and going back afterwards, and the Edit/Read entry stayed in the menu every time.

What I found. That entry is shown when the shared core reports an open note, which it does when the note content it has loaded matches the tab that is open. Every link path I traced keys both by the same normalized path, so I could not find how they came apart. A mismatch there is the only way the entry hides while a note is plainly on screen, and it would stay hidden until a restart, which matches what you saw.

What I did. The menu now uses a second, independent signal: whether the open tab's note exists in the vault's note index (the same check the "More" sheet already uses for its own Edit/Read rows). If either signal says a note is open, Edit/Read is shown, so even if the first one misfires again the entry stays. Databases and other tabs that are not notes still hide it, as before.

Status. In the Android shell on the branch for the next release (planned as 1.1.24). Not in a build yet.

Closing with that mitigation, since I could not make it happen again. If it comes back on that build, please comment here with how you followed the link (a link in the note text, a search result, a Home widget, a backlink) and whether the note was in Read or Edit mode, and I will reopen.

Shipped in ZenNotes for Android 1.1.24. The Edit/Read entry now checks two independent signals for an open note, so it stays in the menu after following links. If it ever disappears again, a screenshot of the menu and the steps just before would help. Release and APK: https://github.com/ZenNotes/zennotesandroid/releases/tag/v1.1.24. Google Play is reviewing the same build; it rolls out there once approved. If you sideload, the APK on the release page is the Play-signed one, so a later Play install updates over it.
