A book in progress helping people without a programming background build tools for their everyday computer work with AI.
The Chinese title is 《普通人的 AI 编程》, with the subtitle 做出适合自己的工作工具. The English project name follows the repository name; the published English book title is still to be decided.
You use a computer for work. You know how a task should be done, but existing software leaves you repeatedly copying, checking, formatting, or sorting files. This book explores how to turn that knowledge into a tool you can use again.
It assumes everyday computer skills, not experience with code, terminals, or development environments. Technical concepts will be introduced when a task needs them.
| Case | Role | Intended result |
|---|---|---|
| Updating a recurring report | Main case | Update a fixed PowerPoint presentation from new Excel data while retaining its layout |
| Processing work screenshots in batches | Starter case | Export images with suitable formats, sizes, and readable text |
| Organizing expense documents | Transfer case | Arrange files into a usable PDF and an accompanying list |
The chapters will follow how a need becomes clearer, how a first version is checked, what happens when inputs change, and how a tool becomes useful over repeated use. Existing software and mature libraries are part of that process. A script, skill, or small app is chosen to fit the task.
Cases may use explicitly labeled teaching data and scenarios based on real work. Measured results and reader testing will be reported separately from intended outcomes.
The audience, premise, five-part outline, and three cases are established. Chapters, runnable examples, and reader testing are still to come. This repository currently contains the project plan and case briefs, not a finished book or tested course.

Chinese is the initial writing language. Other language editions are planned; an English introduction does not mean an English manuscript is available.
