Adds new vehicle and energy-device protocol surface and corrects placeholder and mis-guessed field names in command. This is a major release: the name corrections (commit 7) change field names and JSON names. Tags and wire bytes do not change.

One commit per batch:

  1. command: keep-on accessory ports, drop-nominal-responses flag, Halloween modes, storage RKE actions, energy authorized-command domain. KeepOnAccessoryPortRequest, KeepOnAccessoryPortsState (VehicleData 39), GetVehicleData 34, VehicleDataSubscription 31, VehicleDataFields 33, VehicleAction 721262/721263 (setKeepOnCabin12vPortAction/setKeepOnCabin48vPortAction), VehicleAction.dropNominalSuccessResponses (185, outside the oneof), CurrentVehicleState 71/72, RKEAction_E 33/34, Domain 11.
  2. command: confirm recovered field names. Comment-only: drops "name not recovered" from 13 fields. The UNCONFIRMED markers stay.
  3. command: name the Void-oneof helper alternatives. AutoparkStyle, AutoparkVersion, AutoparkState, SpoilerState, SohTestPhase, SohTestEndMode go from reserved to named alternatives (the existing live-confirmed notes stay), plus legacy VehicleState 34/37/46/47.
  4. command: legacy VehicleConfig configuration block and GuiSettings units. 23 VehicleConfig fields, 19 Void-oneof types, more InteriorTrimType/ExteriorTrimType alternatives, and GuiSettings 1/2/3/5.
  5. command: VCSEC information-request responses. FromVCSECMessage 5/19/21/22, VehicleStatus.keyLocationStatus, WhitelistEntryInfo 3/5, PermissionChange 2, and their messages and enums.
  6. energy_device: registration and Supercharger messages, and missing fields. New registration_api.proto and supercharger_api.proto (79 messages, 10 enums), MessageEnvelope 17/18, CommonMessages 40-45, the TEG and Wall Connector register and site-lookup payloads, Participant.proxied_device, CommonAPIGetSystemInfoResponse 8/9, and new UpdateStatus, WCThirdPartyVehicleMode and WCEvseNotReadyReason values.
  7. command: correct placeholder and mis-guessed field names (BREAKING, JSON). See the table below. Also adds the major changeset and updates buf.yaml.

JSON-name changes (commit 7)

Message Tag Before After
Signatures.AES_GCM_Detached_Signature_Data 1 epoch nonce
Signatures.AES_GCM_Detached_Signature_Data 4 nonce tag
Signatures.AES_GCM_Detached_Signature_Data 5 tag prefix
Signatures.SessionInfo 7 field7 flags
CarServer.PrepareMobileUploadAction 3 field3 apply
CarServer.DogModeLiveActivityData 3 field3 vin
CarServer.DogModeLiveActivityData 4 field4 timestamp
CarServer.DogModeLiveActivityData.DogModeImageData 2 encryptedImage image
CarServer.SetPhoneSettingPreferencesAction 2 field2 language
CarServer.SohState.SohResult 3 field3 soh (oneof optional_field_3 -> optional_soh)
CarServer.VehicleDataSubscriptionResponse 3 unknown error
CarServer.VitalsSubscriptionResponse 2 unknown error
CarServer.PseudonymSyncResponse 1 unknown pseudonym
CarServer.NavigationRouteResponse 1 unknown route
CarServer.RequestTeslaAuthCommand 2 unknown scope
CarServer.Profile 1 unknown1 uuid
CarServer.Profile 2 unknown2 name
CarServer.KeyInfo 1 unknown1 name
CarServer.KeyInfo 2 unknown2 model

AES_GCM_Detached_Signature_Data is a semantic fix, not only a rename: code that set epoch and nonce by name put the bytes at the wrong tags.

buf.yaml

  • Deletes the temporary telemetry ignore_only block. Its comment said to delete it in the first PR after 4.0.1 is published, and 4.0.1 is published.
  • Adds a temporary FIELD_SAME_NAME / FIELD_SAME_JSON_NAME / FIELD_SAME_ONEOF ignore for car_server.proto, signatures.proto and vehicle.proto, to be deleted in the first PR after this release is published. buf breaking against main passes locally with it.

Notes for review

  • Every new item not yet seen on a live vehicle carries UNCONFIRMED: not yet confirmed on a live vehicle.
  • Word case inside some Void-oneof alternative names is not confirmed (for example ZeroG20Gunpowder, M3SRPlus2020, PM216MOSFET). I used UpperCamel with the obvious word boundaries. A later change to any of these names is a JSON break, so please check the spelling of the ones you care about.
  • MessageEnvelope 13 (wmsa) and 14 (sm) stay reserved: this PR does not have the definitions of their payload types.
  • No golden fixture for SetKeepOnCabin12vPortAction: fixtures are for commands confirmed on a live vehicle, and this one is not yet.
  • Not in this PR: the energy_device renumber and retypes (WCLifetimeStats, ControllableDeviceProgram_Schedule, WCAPIGetConfigResponse.charge_schedule, AlertLog/AlertMatrix.data), which wait for a captured response; RemoteNavTripOrder renumbering; and dropping GetRateTariffResponse 13/14.

Checks run locally

pnpm run generate (no further diff), buf lint, buf breaking against origin/main, upstream_coverage.py --mode pinned, check_reply_coverage.py, build_catalog.py, test_build_catalog.py (totals and the energy_device file counts updated), pnpm run build and tsc, and the Python and TypeScript golden fixture tests.

The eight Void-oneof alternatives named None (SunRoofType, SpoilerType, RoofColor,
RearSeatHeaters, ThirdRowSeatType, RearDriveUnit, VehicleConfig.DriverAssist and
VehicleConfig.PerformancePackage) and the two pass fields
(EcuFirmwareModuleUpdateStatus, EcuFirmwareUpdateStatus) were left out of the
generated Python stubs. They are now None_ and pass_. The JSON names stay None
and pass, and the TypeScript names do not change.

Restore the telemetry breaking-change policy or preserve the old schema.

buf breaking --against '.git#branch=origin/main' exits with status 100. The current buf.yaml ignores only command-schema rules, while this PR changes proto/telemetry/vehicle_data.proto and triggers enum deletion/rename and field deletion rules.

If this release intentionally publishes these telemetry changes, restore the narrowly scoped five telemetry exceptions. Otherwise, preserve the old enum names and numbers, and reserve deleted names and numbers, including field 56.

Re the outside-diff buf.yaml:30-40 finding in #75 (review): no change needed. The finding does not hold at the current head (06eb4a5).

The remaining ignore_only block exempts only the approved command field-name corrections. With the block deleted, buf breaking against main reports 39 violations: the 19 batch 7 renames, each flagged by FIELD_SAME_NAME and by FIELD_SAME_JSON_NAME, plus one FIELD_SAME_ONEOF for SohResult.soh moving from optional_field_3 to optional_soh. Nothing else is hidden. buf.yaml can only limit an exception by file path, so the block lists just the three rules above and just the three files that contain these renames (car_server.proto, signatures.proto and vehicle.proto; the oneof rule covers vehicle.proto only). Every other rule still applies to every file, telemetry included.
