Autoplay Mute automatically mutes native HTML5 videos in Steam's built-in browser, covering embedded Store and Community views. It mutes videos already on the page, catches videos added later, and reapplies mute when playback starts or video data loads.
Videos continue playing, just without the sound. Cross-origin iframe players, such as embedded YouTube videos, aren't controlled by the plugin. It runs as a WebKit preload and doesn't require a separate backend.
