Watan: A Strategic Board Game Simulation

Overview

Watan is a strategic board game where players gather resources, build, trade, and compete for victory points, closely emulating the gameplay of Catan. The game integrates resource generation, dynamic player interactions, and a structured board design to create a rich, strategic experience.

Core Components

• Resources & Board Layout: A fixed 19-tile hexagonal board with predefined resources.
• Game Pieces: Includes Tile (resource generators), Goal (buildable edges), and Criteria (upgradable resource producers).
• Gameplay Elements: Dice for resource distribution and a goose mechanic to disrupt opponents.
• Players: Players interact with the board through trading, upgrading, and using strategic actions.
• Board Management: The Board class oversees all components, ensuring smooth gameplay flow.
• User Interface: Text-based MVC controller in English and French, with potential for graphical updates.

How to Run

1. Clone the repository and navigate to the project directory.
2. Compile the program: make ./watan
3. When program is running, make 4 players
4. Choose to either load a board from a file in the running directory or create a new randomized board
5. Destroy your friends note: you can run with -H on a seperate terminal to enable the hand hiding feature
