[Bug]: Cursor jumps/glitches when clicking the menubar icon

Description

Clicking the menubar icon triggers a visual glitch and causes the cursor to jump/teleport away. Please refer to the attached screen recording for visual detail.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Click the Tuck icon in the macOS menubar.
2. Observe the menu opening behavior and cursor movement.

Same problem on Sequoia 15.3.2, except mine makes the computer nearly unusable while Tuck is open, after clicking the Tuck icon. It looks like Tuck is fighting for mouse position somehow, as it interacted with the Apple system menu icon while my cursor was originally on the right side of the screen, teleporting back and forth. This can be observed around 4 seconds into the attached video, where you can briefly see the cursor teleport to the left most side before teleporting back to where it was several times.

Thanks for the detailed report and screen recordings. We’ve identified the cause.

Tuck’s background enforcement for “Always Show” menu bar items can trigger synthetic mouse-drag events while attempting to reposition an item. If that operation fails, it may be retried periodically, causing the cursor to jump between positions and potentially interact with system menus.

This is not specific to macOS Tahoe; the same issue can occur on earlier macOS versions as well. The current stable release does not yet contain a fix.

We’re preparing a fix that will prevent background menu bar maintenance from moving the physical cursor or generating unintended clicks. In the meantime, if the cursor movement repeats continuously, please quit Tuck to stop it immediately.

The fix is now available in Tuck 1.0.28 build 32.

We found that the cursor jump could be caused by mixing AppKit and CoreGraphics global coordinate systems during Shelf's synthetic menu bar drag transaction. Retina scaling, negative display coordinates, and certain multi-display arrangements could make the incorrect destination much more noticeable.

The updated implementation now:

• uses a single AppKit-to-CoreGraphics global coordinate conversion;
• keeps menu bar geometry in logical points without applying the Retina scale factor;
• restores the cursor after every synthetic drag event;
• waits for the previous temporary icon to be restored before presenting another one.

We tested the fix with primary and external displays arranged to the left, right, above, and below, including mixed resolutions and Retina scaling. The final cursor position remained at the original click location in our tests.
