Issue

Closes #1248

Summary

Create one helper function to

  1. mirror pydantic schemas in guardrails repo into their JSON schema.

  2. Nothing in this module validates anything. openapi_extra and responses=
only shape what Swagger/ReDoc render, which is what a proxy route needs: the
downstream service owns validation, so mirroring its schemas as Pydantic
models here would duplicate rules that drift the moment downstream changes.

  3. Schemas registered through register_component_schemas are injected into
    components.schemas by customize_openapi_schema, so openapi_extra can
$ref them and Swagger still renders a typed body with no local model.

📝 Walkthrough

This change documents Guardrails management endpoints and validator types. It adds reusable OpenAPI schemas, examples, and route metadata. It also updates route tests and Guardrails module guidance. Management proxy bodies remain documented as pass-through payloads without local validation.

Changes: Guardrails API documentation

Endpoint contracts and validator catalogue
backend/app/api/docs/guardrails_schemas.py, backend/app/api/docs/guardrails/*
Adds schemas, examples, and validator catalogue data. Documents request fields, response formats, access rules, and error cases for Guardrails endpoints.
OpenAPI helpers and route metadata
backend/app/api/openapi_docs.py, backend/app/api/docs/openapi_config.py, backend/app/api/routes/guardrails.py
Adds helpers for registering schemas and generating request and response metadata. Adds summaries, descriptions, schemas, and examples to Guardrails routes and registers the Guardrails tag.
Route tests and module guidance

⚠️ Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Describe list filters as forwarded strings, not as gateway enums. The routes declare the list filters as str | None and forward them unchanged. The gateway never returns a local 422 for an unknown filter value. The docs type these filters as enums and list a gateway 422 for unrecognised values.

  • backend/app/api/docs/guardrails/list_validator_configs.md#L8-L9: Type stage and type as strings. At Line 19, attribute any 422 for a bad filter value to the guardrails service.
  • backend/app/api/docs/guardrails/list_llm_prompt_configs.md#L7-L7: Type validator_name as a string. At Line 13, remove the local 422 cause for an unrecognised value.

Use topic_relevance for the stored prompt version.

The stored prompt contract allows topic_relevance and answer_relevance_custom_llm as validator_name values. The topic_relevance catalogue entry explicitly loads the stored prompt's text and schema version. Although topic_relevance_llm can also reference a stored prompt by topic_relevance_config_id, its local prompt_schema_version describes inline configuration. Replace the misleading validator name:

Use a neutral DELETE_OK example.

All three DELETE routes use DELETE_OK. The example message is "Ban list deleted successfully". As a result, the validator-config and prompt-config delete docs show a ban-list message. Use a generic message, or create one ResponseDoc per resource.

Correct the stale fixture comment.

The comment says the proxy routes validate bodies against mirrored schemas. That is no longer true. ProxyBody is Any and is forwarded unchanged. A reader could conclude that local validation exists. Change the comment to say the fixtures are realistic payloads only.

Takes app/api/openapi_docs.py from untested to 100% statement coverage:
schema inference for every value kind, the component registry, and each
branch of doc().

Two of the cases pin behaviour that is easy to regress:

- infer_schema() checks bool before int, since bool subclasses int. Without
that order every boolean example would be documented as an integer.
- inject_component_schemas() lets a generated component win a name clash. A
real Pydantic model always describes a route better than a hand-written
  stand-in.

Also fixes doc(): called with request_examples and no request_schema, it
inferred the body schema from the absent `request` and documented the body
as nullable. It now infers from the first example instead.
