🤖 A robot (Claude Code, for a PostHog engineer) wrote this PR.

Problem

Before 0.39.0, @posthog/icons could not be tree-shaken. If code imported one icon, the bundle got almost all of the icons. PostHog/icons#170 fixed this in 0.39.0. This PR uses the new version, so that the CI bundle size and eager graph reports show the effect.

Changes

  • The catalog pin for @posthog/icons changes from ^0.38.0 to ^0.39.0.
  • products/billing_alerts and products/streamlit_apps asked for "@posthog/icons": "*", so they stayed on 0.38.0. They now use "catalog:", the same as the other products. The lockfile now has only one copy of the icons.
  • The icons-pure-annotations esbuild plugin in common/esbuilder/utils.mjs is removed. It added the pure marks to the icons at build time, until the package added them. 0.39.0 adds them, so the plugin found nothing to change and stopped the build. Because of this plugin, the frontend bundles were already tree-shaken, so the eager graph will change only a little. The small gains are sideEffects: false and one less copy of React's JSX runtime.
  • Mechanical change: the lockfile update. A fresh lock also moved unlayer-types (from react-email-editor) to a newer version. That change was removed from this PR, because it is not related.

The icon API does not change. Users see no difference, but some bundles can get smaller.

How did you test this code?

  • pnpm install --frozen-lockfile --lockfile-only passes.
  • The agent did not build the frontend on its machine. The CI frontend-bundle-size job compares this branch with the base branch and posts the bundle size and eager graph changes here.

Test rationale: No new test. The CI bundle size and eager graph reports measure this change. The icons repo now has a CI check that fails if an icon cannot be tree-shaken.

What the toolbar ships to customer pages, measured from the esbuild output (minified, post-tree-shake). The eager set is the entry plus everything statically imported from it — fetched before any feature runs; deferred chunks load lazily. The eager guardrail is 5.72 MiB. Each output file must also stay below 10 MB, where CloudFront stops compressing it. The module boundary is enforced separately by check-toolbar-graph.
